Job Title:
Production Planning Supervisor Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Production Planning Supervisor to lead the development and execution of production plans and schedules in a global manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient utilization of labor, materials, and equipment while meeting customer demand and delivery commitments. The position involves overseeing short-term production scheduling (S&OE) and supporting longer-term planning inputs (S&OP) to align demand, capacity, and supply. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement and collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams. Responsibilities
+ Manage the short-term production scheduling process, ensuring alignment with customer demand and delivery commitments.
+ Develop and maintain executable production schedules, adjusting as necessary for capacity, labor, or material constraints.
+ Collaborate with Operations to ensure high schedule adherence, first-pass yield, and on-time completion of production orders.
+ Support the S&OP process by providing short-term execution insights and capacity constraints.
+ Translate demand forecasts into actionable production plans and capacity requirements.
+ Coordinate with Sales, Customer Service, Quality, Warehouse, and Manufacturing teams to align on production priorities.
+ Partner with sourcing and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of materials and balance production schedules with inventory targets.
+ Maintain planning data within ERP systems and provide regular reporting and analysis on production and planning performance.
+ Drive lean manufacturing and process optimization initiatives, ensuring compliance with cGMP, safety, and company policies.
+ Lead, coach, and develop production planners and scheduling personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Essential Skills + 5-8 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
+ Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred.
+ Strong expertise in production scheduling, capacity planning, and demand alignment.
+ Experience with ERP/MRP systems, specifically Sage.
+ Strong Excel capabilities, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
+ Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
+ Ability to make sound, logical decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
+ Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
+ APICS certification as CPIM or CSCP preferred.
+ Experience in contract manufacturing or cGMP-regulated environments strongly preferred.
+ Experience in a batch manufacturing environment preferred.
+ Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered. Work Environment This role is fully onsite from Monday to Friday, with a start time between 7:30am and 8:00am, working a full 8-hour day. The environment is a fast-paced manufacturing setting that supports innovation, quality, and compliance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $72.12/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
