Our shop specializes in high-durability commercial casework, architectural millwork, and complex, engineered specialty commercial fixtures. This is a hands-on, working leadership role. You will divide your time between active fabrication at the bench/machines and directing the daily workflow of the shop floor. As the floor leader, you will be responsible for managing a crew of cabinetmakers, machine operators, and finishers—ensuring everyone stays on task, works safely, and maintains our standards for quality and on-time delivery. Key Responsibilities 1. Hands-On Fabrication & Technical Leadership Lead by

Example:

Spend a significant portion of the day actively fabricating, assembling, or machining high-level components alongside the crew.

Specialty Commercial Fabrication:

Take the lead on or directly oversee the construction of complex, non-standard commercial elements, including curved reception desks, heavy-duty retail fixtures, die walls, and specialized medical/laboratory casework.

Blueprint & Submittal Interpretation:

Read, interpret, and cross-reference architectural submittals, shop drawings, and cut lists. Ensure the team flawlessly executes strict AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) commercial specifications. 2.

Shop Supervision & Coordination Daily Workflow Management:

Direct daily shop operations, assigning tasks to team members based on their strengths and the production schedule to keep jobs moving efficiently.

Floor Oversight:

Monitor the crew to ensure productivity remains high, mistakes are minimized, and shop policies are respected.

Safety Coordination:

Actively promote and enforce safety protocols, ensuring proper PPE compliance and correct, safe machinery operation across the floor.

Quality Control & Sign-Off:

Review work-in-progress and conduct final inspections on completed casework and specialty fixtures to guarantee structural integrity, hardware performance, and finish quality before shipping. 3.

Resource & Equipment Maintenance Material Workflow:

Monitor material usage and minimize waste. Help coordinate the staging of sheet goods, specialized laminates (PLAM), and hardware before production begins.

Machinery Maintenance:

Oversee and assist with regular maintenance schedules for shop equipment (CNC routers, automated edgebanders, panel saws) to ensure maximum uptime.

Role Requirements Experience & Leadership Requirements Supervisory Experience:

Minimum of 5+ years of direct experience acting as a foreman, team lead, or supervisor in a millwork or wood manufacturing environment. Must be comfortable directing others and keeping a crew on schedule.

Commercial Casework Mastery:

8+ years of professional commercial cabinetmaking experience, with deep expertise in plastic laminate (PLAM) work and cabinetry construction.

Specialty Millwork Expertise:

Demonstrable experience building complex commercial architectural millwork (die walls, reception radiuses, integrated solid-surface materials, and custom retail displays).

Technical & Physical Requirements Technical Proficiency:

Expert-level blueprint reading and layout capabilities. Complete familiarity with commercial hardware systems, heavy machinery (CNC routers, automated edge banders), and finishing booth workflows.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal communication to effectively coordinate between the project management team and the shop floor.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand/walk the shop floor for 8-10 hours a day, operate machinery, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly in an industrial shop environment. Job Requirements Pass a drug test and background check Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
