Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Heavy Civil Foreman specializing in Grading and Site Development to lead and manage construction crews on complex civil projects. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong background in heavy civil construction, including grading, excavation, paving, and site preparation. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure safety compliance, coordinate schedules, review technical drawings, and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency. CPG is seeking an experienced Grading / Site Development Foreman to lead field crews on heavy civil, grading, excavation, and site-development projects. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently managing day-to-day field operations while maintaining production, quality, schedule, and accountability. The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader who understands earthwork operations, can effectively manage manpower and equipment, and takes ownership of getting the job done safely and correctly. Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and manage grading and site-development crews to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications Plan daily field operations and coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and work activities based on project schedules and production requirements Set clear production expectations, communicate daily goals, and hold crews accountable for performance Monitor actual field progress against the project plan, schedule, and production goals Coordinate excavation, grading, backfill, compaction, and other earthwork activities Read and interpret civil plans, blueprints, technical drawings, project specifications, grades, stakes, GPS, and machine-control information Review construction plans regularly to verify work accuracy and identify potential field conflicts or issues Identify field problems early, develop practical solutions, and communicate issues promptly to the General Superintendent and project management Coordinate with the General Superintendent, Project Managers, subcontractors, inspectors, customers, and other trades to keep work progressing Verify employee time and ensure labor hours are accurately charged to the correct project and work activity Utilize construction management and field-production software, including HCSS HeavyJob, as required for timekeeping, production tracking, and project documentation Maintain accurate daily documentation of manpower, equipment, production, project progress, safety matters, field conditions, and change-related work Conduct daily safety discussions and enforce OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and jobsite safety procedures Perform and/or verify daily equipment inspections and promptly report maintenance, damage, or operational issues Protect and properly manage company equipment, tools, and other resources assigned to the project Perform quality-control inspections and verify that completed work meets project specifications, plans, and customer expectations Operate heavy equipment when necessary to support field operations and production Lead crew meetings to communicate project goals, work plans, safety requirements, production expectations, and progress updates Maintain professional working relationships with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades Promote a jobsite culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, quality, productivity, and professionalism Experience & Qualifications Proven experience as a foreman or field supervisor in heavy civil construction, grading, excavation, earthwork, or site development Strong understanding of grading, excavation, backfill, compaction, and overall earthwork operations Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, motivate, and hold field crews accountable Ability to plan and coordinate manpower and equipment around project schedules and production requirements Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operations and proper equipment utilization Ability to read and interpret civil plans, construction drawings, grades, stakes, and project specifications Experience with GPS and machine-control systems preferred Experience with HCSS HeavyJob or similar construction management/field-production software preferred Knowledge of OSHA requirements, construction safety practices, and company safety procedures Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to coordinate effectively with project management, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other field personnel Ability to maintain accurate field documentation and production records Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Strong commitment to safety, quality, production, accountability, and teamwork What We Value CPG is building its field organization around safety, accountability, production, teamwork, and professionalism. Pay:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
