Job Description

Position Summary The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations across assigned shifts or departments. This role ensures production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and with consistent product quality. The Production Supervisor provides leadership to Shift Leaders and production staff, coordinates workflow, resolves operational challenges, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize overall manufacturing performance. Key Responsibilities 1. Production Leadership & Oversight Supervise Production Shift Leaders and production operators across assigned areas or shifts. Ensure production schedules and operational goals are met. Monitor staffing levels and adjust assignments to meet production demands. Provide leadership, direction, and accountability to production teams. Enforce company policies, procedures, and performance expectations. 2. Production Operations Management Oversee daily production activities, machine utilization, and workflow efficiency. Monitor production performance metrics including output, efficiency, scrap, and downtime. Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues. Ensure proper material flow, line changeovers, and production readiness. Support production ramp-ups, new product launches, and process changes. 3. Safety & Compliance Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with PPE, lockout/tagout, and facility safety requirements. Conduct routine safety audits and address unsafe conditions immediately. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions. Promote a strong safety culture within the production team. 4. Quality Management Ensure production meets quality standards and specifications. Work closely with Quality teams to address non-conformances and quality issues. Monitor process control and ensure adherence to SOPs and work instructions. Drive accountability for quality performance across production teams. 5. Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and develop Shift Leaders and production employees. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback. Support hiring, onboarding, and training of production staff. Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment. Address employee relations issues in coordination with HR. 6. Documentation & Reporting Review production reports, shift logs, and operational metrics. Track production performance, scrap, downtime, and staffing. Communicate production updates to management and cross-functional teams. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting compliance. 7. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality. Lead or participate in Lean, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives. Implement process improvements and standardization efforts. Support cost reduction and operational excellence initiatives. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred Technical or vocational training in manufacturing is a plus Experience 4-7 years of manufacturing experience required 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience required Experience in battery, chemical, automotive, or cleanroom manufacturing preferred Experience managing multiple production lines or teams preferred Skills Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production equipment Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and production reporting systems Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles preferred Work Environment Fast-paced manufacturing environment Exposure to noise, machinery, chemicals, or cleanroom conditions depending on department May require working across multiple shifts or extended hours Physical Requirements Ability to stand or walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 40-50 lbs as needed Ability to work in a production floor environment
