Job Description
Production Supervisor
- Day ShiftPosition OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead day-shift manufacturing operations.
The role focuses on meeting production targets, ensuring product quality and safety, and driving continuous improvement using Industrial best practices, Lean methods and Six Sigma principles. The ideal candidate will coach and develop frontline teams, maintain efficient workflows, and collaborate with maintenance and engineering to sustain high uptime and on-time delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate day-shift production activities to meet daily and weekly output, quality and safety targets.
Coach, mentor and develop production operators; manage staffing, scheduling and performance reviews for the shift.
Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, standard work) to reduce waste and improve throughput.
Use Six Sigma tools and data-driven problem solving (DMAIC, process mapping, root cause analysis) to improve quality and reduce variation.
Monitor production metrics (yield, cycle time, downtime, OEE) and generate shift-level reports with recommended corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements; lead safety meetings and incident investigations.
Work closely with maintenance and engineering to prioritize repairs, oversee preventative maintenance, and coordinate changeovers.
Manage material flow and inventory on the shop floor to prevent bottlenecks and support on-time delivery.
Support new product introductions and process changes by executing trials, documenting standard work and training operators.
Drive continuous improvement projects and participate in cross-functional improvement teams to meet cost, quality and delivery objectives.
Qualifications5+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably on a production floor.
Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping) and continuous improvement.
Strong understanding of production metrics (OEE, throughput, yield) and experience using them to drive improvements.
Excellent leadership and people-management skills with the ability to train, coach and motivate frontline teams.
Proven ability to manage shift priorities, work under pressure and adapt to changing production demands.
