An established manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Production Control Supervisor who can effectively balance customer priorities, material availability, production capacity, and team coordination. This position is ideal for an organized manufacturing professional who communicates clearly, responds quickly to changing demands, and keeps customers and production teams moving forward.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and support production schedulers, including overseeing production releases, facilitating day-to-day communication, reviewing paid time off requests, and handling other administrative needs. Verify and schedule manufacturing orders to meet customer-requested delivery dates using efficient production methods. Confirm material availability and coordinate with the Purchasing team when shortages or other constraints arise. Partner with Design Engineering to evaluate approved alternate designs or materials when necessary to meet delivery commitments. Review production start quantities against expected yields and finished-goods inventory to minimize remakes and excess inventory. Control the release of production documents and respond quickly to changes or issues that could disrupt production flow. Manage customer calls and order activity for an assigned territory, including new orders, revisions, delivery tracking, and expediting. Provide product literature and samples, assist with pricing and lead-time discussions, and help identify sales opportunities with new and existing customers. Resolve customer concerns and coordinate returns, replacement orders, or product substitutions when appropriate. Communicate changes in order demand, lead-time recommendations, production status, and issue-resolution plans to internal and external stakeholders. Recommend process and procedural improvements that reduce costs, improve performance, and strengthen customer satisfaction. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant work experience will also be considered. Three to five years of related experience in production control, scheduling, manufacturing operations, customer service, or a similar field. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and factory cycle times. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar business software. Japanese-language skills or familiarity with Japanese business culture is highly desirable.
