Summary/Objective The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations of the extrusion, printing, heading, visual inspection and capping areas to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. This role provides leadership to those teams and support staff, manages workflow, ensures adherence to quality standards, and drives continuous improvement in processes, safety, and productivity. Essential Functions Operational Leadership Supervise day‑to‑day operations of extrusion lines, ensuring production goals for quality, output, and efficiency are met. Monitor machine performance and production metrics; make adjustments to optimize output. Ensure proper setup, operation, shutdown, and changeovers. Quality & Compliance Enforce adherence to product specifications, quality procedures, and documentation requirements. Conduct line checks, audits, and inspections to verify product quality. Work with the Quality team to resolve nonconformities, scrap issues, and customer complaints. Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA). Safety & Training Promote a strong safety culture and enforce safety protocols across the extrusion department. Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training for new/existing employees. Identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately. Ensure proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and equipment guarding. Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and mentor leads, machine technicians and operators. Provide performance feedback, conduct evaluations, and support employee development. Address performance or behavior issues in a fair and timely manner. Foster a collaborative, supportive, and accountable team environment. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce scrap, and increase efficiency. Assist with root‑cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and other improvement initiatives. Recommend equipment upgrades, tooling improvements, and process enhancements. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate production records, downtime logs, and shift reports. Coordinate with Maintenance for repairs and preventative maintenance needs. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and cross‑training team members. Job Skills & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience in plastics extrusion or similar manufacturing environment. 1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of extrusion equipment, tooling, and processing parameters. Ability to read technical drawings, production schedules, and quality specifications. Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency with basic computer systems (e.g., ERP, MES, MS Office). Preferred Associate or bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous‑improvement methodologies. Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing environment. The use of standard office equipment may be required.
