Job Description

I have a direct hire opening for a Night Shift Production Supervisor in Reno with a manufacturing company that uses extrusion lines to produce PVC vinyl profiles used in window manufacturing. This is a night shift opening! This role will oversee the extrusion side of the plant where Extrusion Operators run the extrusion lines and Production Support employees handle, visually inspect, package, and move the finished profiles. They are looking for someone with production leadership experience who can lead and develop employees, oversee production on their shift, make decisions when production problems occur, and work hands-on when needed. The facility operates 24/7 and has 30 extruders, with the number of lines running at one time changing based on production demand. Bulk PVC compound is fed into the extruders, heated, and pushed through tooling to form the vinyl profiles used in window production. Direct Hire Opportunity - Be on our client's payroll from Day 1!
Pay and Schedule Information:
Pay:
$28-$33.50/hour
Night Shift:
7 PM-7 AM; with a rotating schedule where the days worked rotate every 2 weeks. The 2-week rotation works as follows: Week 1 : Work Wednesday and Thursday; off Friday through Tuesday Week 2: Work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; off Wednesday and Thursday The schedule then repeats, giving you every other weekend off. Night Shift Production Supervisor:
Lead 14-18 employees per shift, including Extrusion Operators, Forklift/Material Handlers, Production Support/Packagers, and a Lead Review the production schedule established approximately 7 days in advance and assign operators to extrusion lines based on scheduled production requirements Ensure the production schedule is followed and make adjustments when machine problems, tooling issues, color issues, quality problems, or staffing shortages affect production Oversee the extrusion lines throughout the shift and monitor line speeds, production output, efficiency, scrap, equipment downtime, and staffing Work hands-on in production and operate equipment when call-outs, vacations, or staffing shortages require additional production coverage Lead, train, coach, and develop production employees and identify areas where additional training or retraining is needed Work with the Lead on the shift who has extensive knowledge of the PVC extrusion process, equipment, tooling, and production requirements Partner with QA Inspectors who perform hourly product checks and respond when quality issues are identified Make production adjustments when quality problems occur and determine when a product or line needs to be stopped or changed to prevent additional defective product, material waste, and scrap Work with the Tooling team when tooling problems cause profile deficiencies or production instability and ensure necessary adjustments or repairs are completed Work with Maintenance when extrusion equipment breaks down or equipment problems affect production Communicate with Inventory to ensure the PVC compounds and other materials required for scheduled production are available to the extrusion department Monitor material consumption and accurately enter production and material usage information into SAP Complete production reports, scrap reports, and end-of-shift reports using Excel and other company systems Document and explain why scheduled production orders were not successfully completed, including equipment downtime, staffing shortages, quality issues, or other production problems Monitor scrap and production efficiency and identify opportunities to improve line performance and reduce material waste Maintain safety, housekeeping, material packaging, and scrap segregation requirements throughout the extrusion department Develop employees for future positions and help build succession plans within the production team Work with Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, Inventory, and other departments to resolve problems that affect production, quality, equipment, or material flow Benefits of the

Night Shift Production Supervisor:
Have at least 2 years of Lead or Supervisor experience within a manufacturing environment Experience leading production employees, assigning employees to machines or production areas, and ensuring scheduled production is completed Training, coaching, and developing manufacturing employees Experience monitoring production output, efficiency, scrap, equipment downtime, and staffing Ability to make production decisions and adjust production when equipment, quality, tooling, material, or staffing problems occur Use SAP ERP system to track material consumption and inventory levels Ability to complete production reports in Excel and understand the production information and metrics being reported
