$92,000 - $102,000 per year About the Opportunity We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Shift Manager to lead maintenance operations within a fast-paced, high-volume food manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance or production leader who enjoys being where the work is happening. This is not an office-based management position. Approximately 75% of the role is spent on the production floor, working alongside the maintenance team, responding to equipment issues, supporting production, and driving maintenance projects and improvements. The Maintenance Shift Manager will oversee a team of maintenance technicians and partner closely with Production, Sanitation, Engineering, and other plant teams to maintain safe, efficient, continuous operations. Candidates with a combination of production supervision, maintenance leadership, and food manufacturing experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Schedule This position works a consistent shift and does not rotate between days and nights. The schedule follows a 2-2-3 rotation, providing: A predictable work schedule Every other weekend off A three-day weekend every other week Built-in days off during the week This is an excellent schedule for someone who values consistency while still having extended periods of time away from work. What You'll Do Lead and organize maintenance activities across a 7-day production operation Supervise, coach, develop, and support maintenance technicians Serve as the primary maintenance point of contact during the assigned shift Spend the majority of your shift on the production floor supporting employees and operations Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and prioritize maintenance needs Partner with Production Supervisors on equipment setups, production issues, and facility-related needs Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls-related equipment issues Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities Drive preventive maintenance completion through the CMMS system Identify recurring equipment issues and support root-cause problem solving Lead and participate in maintenance projects, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives Work closely with Project Engineering on equipment installation, modification, and improvement projects Audit, coach, and train maintenance employees on maintenance standards and best practices Support compliance with Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work Permits, and other plant safety requirements Manage employee scheduling, performance reviews, coaching, and team development Equipment Supported The facility includes high-speed food manufacturing and packaging equipment such as: Depalletizers Conveyor systems 30,000-gallon batching tanks Fillers Cappers Labelers Casers Palletizers X-ray inspection systems PLC-controlled production equipment Production lines operate at approximately 200 to 1,000 units per minute. What We're Looking For Ideal candidates will bring a combination of maintenance, supervisory, production, and food manufacturing experience.Preferred qualifications include:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field 2-5 years of maintenance leadership or production supervisory experience within a continuous manufacturing environment 5+ years of experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, high-speed CPG, or a similar manufacturing operation Strong hands-on mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience Experience leading maintenance employees in a 24/7 manufacturing environment Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems Working knowledge of industrial safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout Strong problem-solving and equipment troubleshooting skills Ability to effectively partner with Production and Engineering teams Microsoft Office proficiency Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma experience preferred CPMP and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus Candidates with strong Production Supervisor experience combined with hands-on maintenance knowledge are encouraged to apply even without an exact Maintenance Manager title match. The Environment This is a highly active food manufacturing facility, and candidates should be comfortable working directly on the production floor. The production environment is typically 80-90°F with approximately 60% humidity year-round due to products being cooked at high temperatures. The position also requires the ability to work around manufacturing noise, wet or slippery surfaces, varying production conditions, prolonged standing, climbing, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Candidates should expect to spend approximately 75% of their working time on the plant floor.
