The Production Supervisor is responsible for independently leading and managing all production activities during their assigned shift within our cable tray manufacturing operation. This position is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, schedule attainment, employee performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Supervisor will drive daily operational execution, ensure adherence to standard work, develop employee accountability, and make real-time decisions to achieve production objectives.Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Lead, direct, and manage all production activities for an assigned shift within the cable tray manufacturing operation.
- Ensure daily production schedules are executed safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Monitor labor utilization, equipment performance, and workflow to achieve production targets.
- Develop, track, and communicate key production performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, efficiency, scrap, downtime, quality, attendance, and schedule attainment.
- Analyze production data and implement corrective actions when performance falls below expectations.
- Establish, communicate, and enforce employee accountability for safety, attendance, quality, productivity, and standard work expectations.
- Conduct employee coaching, training, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and disciplinary discussions consistent with company policies.
- Provide strong floor presence and make real-time operational decisions to address production challenges and changing priorities.
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, planning, and quality teams to resolve operational issues and improve manufacturing performance.
- Lead daily shift meetings and communicate production goals, priorities, and results.
- Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and ISO/quality management systems.
- Conduct routine audits to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and waste reduction principles.
- Maintain accurate production records including shift reports, labor utilization, downtime tracking, quality issues, and inventory usage.
- Ensure production equipment is operating safely and effectively while supporting preventative maintenance efforts.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience and at least 3 years of direct production leadership or supervisory experience.
- Proven experience managing hourly production employees on a manufacturing floor.
- Demonstrated experience holding employees accountable through coaching, performance management, and corrective action processes.
- Experience managing daily production schedules and meeting production targets.
- Proven ability to develop, monitor, and utilize production KPIs to drive operational performance.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and workplace safety requirements.
- Experience leading operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and production documents.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualification:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
