POSITION SUMMARY
(WHAT, HOW, WHY) The Assistant Production Manager (APM) supports the Production Manager in leading daily operations and team performance in Closeout Goods. This role provides hands-on leadership across production, ensures operational standards are consistently met, and serves as the manager-on-duty in the absence of the Production Manager. The APM plays a critical role in driving production efficiency, team development and execution of Goodwill's mission and brand standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Five (5) years of Retail or equivalent experience preferred Two (2) years of progressive retail leadership or supervisory experience preferred Experience training, coaching, and developing associates Proficiency in scheduling, payroll, and workforce management systems Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills Basic math and computer proficiency Ability to work a flexible schedule, including openings, closings, weekends, and holidays
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS
Proper lifting, stacking and sorting methods preferred. Key Responsibilities Production Operations & Execution Partner with the Production Manager to oversee daily operations Execute administrative and clerical functions such as ordering supplies and operational reporting Ensure efficient production and pricing Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment at all times Team Leadership & Development Supervise, coach, train, and support team members Support onboarding and ongoing training to ensure consistent execution of operational and service standards Provide feedback and partner with leadership and HR on performance management and corrective action when needed Scheduling, Labor & Workforce Management Maintain employee schedules & ensure appropriate coverage while meeting payroll targets Manage time and attendance in HRIS and ensure accurate and timely payroll submission Adjust staffing levels to align with production needs and business demands Manage the vehicle fleet and reporting Production, Merchandising & Inventory Ensure smooth and secure flow of goods in compliance with safety, security, and operational standards Monitor pricing practices and merchandise quality to ensure consistency and accuracy Safety, Compliance & Communication Maintain a safe work environment for employees by enforcing safety and loss prevention standards Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations Maintain effective communication with leadership, other locations, and support departments Mission Support Collaborate with Employment and Training programs to support Goodwill's mission and community impact Supervisory Responsibility Direct supervisory responsibility for Production Leaders, Merchandise Processors, Material Handlers, temporary workers, and program participants Work a flexible schedule in support of production including night, weekend, and holiday shifts Ability to effectively communicate in English with internal and external customers Physical Requirements Ability to work in climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled environments Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, lift, and climb for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to perform frequent computer-based work Regular, predictable attendance is required
