Aluminum Assistant Manager - 1st
Shift Job Summary:
This position accomplishes organizational objectives and business plans targets by supervising and motivating staff, organizing and monitoring work flow, and evaluating machine downtime to determine preventative and predictive maintenance needs, resulting in maximum uptime of production equipment, and efficient response to reactive maintenance needs.Essential Functions:
Leadership & Workforce Development:
Prepare and implement 3-deep training plans to ensure operational coverage and workforce flexibility. Conduct 30-60-90-day employee evaluations and support annual performance appraisal processes. Create and review Senior Team Leader and Team Leader annual appraisals. Assign associates to production processes based on operational requirements. Provide daily coaching and leadership support to associates, Team Leaders, and technicians. Develop staffing plans and maintain workforce allocation efficiency. Prepare and maintain employee time-off schedules. Issue disciplinary documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures. If needed, lead shift exchange meetings and communicate operational priorities. Promote teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement throughout operations.Production & Operations Management:
Confirm daily and hourly production targets are achieved. Monitor operation rates, production efficiency, and workflow performance. Monitor delivery status to ensure on-time shipments and customer satisfaction. Track downtime by production line and operational area. Prepare Work-In-Process (WIP) reports and operational summaries. Ensure TPM data and inventory information are completed accurately and submitted on time. Support operational continuity and coordinate resources to meet production schedules.Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure completion and accuracy of all Equipment Start-Up Check Sheets (ESUCS). Ensure all Production Quality Control Sheets (PCS) and quality check sheets are completed accurately. Verify PCS and ESUCS completion and compliance. Ensure Work Instructions (WI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and limit samples are accurate, updated, and followed correctly. Create and update SOPs, Work Instructions, and limit samples as required. Review Change Point Control information and ensure compliance. Support internal and external audit preparation activities and documentation readiness. Conduct operation standards audit to the schedule and maintain Quality Alert awareness. Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.Safety, TPM & Continuous Improvement:
Create and implement 5S/TPM housekeeping plans. Conduct daily safety audits of assigned production areas. Perform Gemba 5S/TPM follow-up activities to sustain workplace organization standards. Lead and support Kaizen and continuous improvement activities. Promote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to safety procedures.Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities:
If needed, prepare and present Team Leader reports and operational updates. Prepare 5P reports and performance summaries. Maintain and update training matrices and employee development records. Communicate plant activities and operational updates across departments. Track operational performance metrics and support corrective action implementation. Prepare and distribute operational and staffing reports as required. Reporting on Business Plan improvement targets to the schedule.Other Functions:
Interacts with co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and government officials. Maintains a clean working environment. Continuously seeks to improve processes and procedures. Promotes a safe working environment for all Associates. Assists with inventory control measures. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Daily monitoring of YNA's Policies and Procedures compliance plant-wide. Trains others on and completes daily WIP inventory counts including PC input. Reviews Safety and Quality Alert information with all direct reports. Creates and manages Time Off schedule and planning. Tracks and reports on downtime by line. Creates and issues daily WIP report for inventory status and production plan vs. actual. Performs other jobs as assigned.Requirements:
Education Relevant Bachelor's or Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience:
3-5 years of experience managing a diverse workforce in a mass production, manufacturing environment. Experience in a non-union environment strongly preferred.Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities. Knowledge of manufacturing operations, quality systems, and production processes. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and 5S principles. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to analyze operational data and implement improvements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and compliance standards.Working Conditions:
Position requires the ability to bend, twist, reach, perform repetitive arm movements, repetitive key strokes, lift up to 30 pounds alone frequently or over 30 pounds with "Team Lift" occasionally, stand on concrete for extended periods of time, work mandatory overtime, and withstand temperatures of up to 100 degrees.
