Job Description

$100K - $115K (Depending on Experience) Summary The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of a Production department crew to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations. This position oversees plant operations in the control room, optimizing production and maintaining product quality within established targets and specifications. Key Responsibilities Ensure safety is number one priority for your team and conduct daily safety meetings Ensure that all team members conduct shift work place safety exams, noting, mitigating, and documenting all safety hazards Complete all required daily Visual Emission checks and document findings. Perform first-level inspections throughout the plant and ensure that plant inspections are conducted Direct the daily activities of Production department employees. Monitor mill operations and product quality, ensuring shipments meet specifications. Address out-of-spec material with corrective actions. Coordinate plant operations and employee work schedules to meet production, sales, and distribution needs. Ensure production equipment is operated safely and efficiently, completing and following up on equipment inspection check sheets. Recommend operational improvements and communicate with the Production Coordinator. Collaborate with the Maintenance department to schedule equipment operations, cleaning, downtime, and major turnarounds. Create work orders and communicate needs to Maintenance personnel. Complete daily Supervisor check sheets to verify equipment functionality. Lead troubleshooting efforts and ensure timely repair of issues to minimize downtime. Partner with the Production Coordinator to plan and operate within budget. Ensure compliance with the union labor agreement, safety policies, and environmental requirements (including fugitive dust). Report and follow up on accidents, incidents, or near misses per company procedures. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards (ASTM, CSA, MQO, internal targets/limits). Conduct new-hire and shift employee evaluations. Organize and direct the work of shift employees.
Qualifications Education Minimum:
High School Diploma with technical focus.
Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field. Experience Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility. At least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred. Experience in cement production or heavy industry is strongly preferred. Strong communication (written/verbal), leadership, and organizational skills. Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and maintenance systems (e.g., Maximo). Physical Demands Work 12 hour rotating shift work (Dupont Schedule) Regular use of hands to handle, feel, or operate equipment. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to walk on uneven, rocky, or muddy surfaces, sometimes in low-light conditions. Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
