 Harvest Superintendent
REPORTS TO
The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of this position.
About the position:
The Harvest Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the efficiency of production, monitoring and discussing daily goals with supervisors. This role involves managing the operations of several areas on the harvest floor, directing supervisors regarding production volume, quality, cost, and schedules. The superintendent tracks yield levels, addresses USDA regulatory issues, and handles employee grievances efficiently. Participation in various meetings and collaboration with the Quality Control department to ensure product quality and food safety is essential. The position also includes training and developing supervisors, monitoring machinery and facilities, managing labor hours, and maintaining good employee relations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees efficiency of monitoring production and discussing daily goals with supervisors. Responsible for efficient and effective operations of several areas of production in the harvest floor. Directs supervisors with respect to production volume, quality, cost and meeting production schedules. Tracks and ensures acceptable yield levels. Helps address any USDA regulatory issues. Handles any employee grievance, dispute or problem in the most efficient manner possible. Actively participates in group meetings, line meetings, and supervisory meetings. Works with the Quality Control department to ensure product quality & food safety. Trains and develops supervisors to provide management depth and develop teamwork to attain department objectives. Monitors and confirms that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained and sanitized. Manages labor hours for responsible area. Ensures crewing meets area demands. Maintains good employee relations. Performs other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
REQUIREMENTS
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills. General animal handling background Proven experience in meat processing or a related field with a focus on food safety regulations. Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and CGMP practices. Excellent leadership skills with experience in training staff. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
