MetPlas Inc. is a custom fabrication company in Natrona Heights, PA, producing precision components in engineered plastics and non-ferrous metals. We're a high-mix, low-volume job shop — no two weeks look the same, and the work rewards people who can think on their feet. We're looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor to own daily operations on our floor. You'll lead a team of about 20 people across CNC machining, machine operation, paint, and assembly, and you'll be accountable for output, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. This is a hands-on leadership job — you'll spend your day on the floor solving problems, not behind a desk. What You'll Do Lead, train, and coach a cross-functional team of machinists, operators, painters, assemblers, and apprentices Assign daily work and schedule labor to hit production deadlines Review blueprints and job specs to confirm requirements before work starts Optimize workflow, tooling, and setups to cut changeover time and improve throughput Troubleshoot machining, finishing, and production issues as they come up Perform and verify first piece inspections; enforce in-process inspection and documentation standards Investigate quality concerns, find root cause, and implement corrective action Enforce OSHA and company safety policies; run safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations Coordinate preventative maintenance and minimize unplanned downtime Recommend new equipment, tooling, and process improvements What We're Looking For 5+ years of hands-on machining experience (CNC and/or manual) 3+ years supervising or leading a team in a manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, fixturing, and materials Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and job specifications Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles on a shop floor Comfortable using an ERP or shop management system for scheduling, routing, and labor High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or apprenticeship preferred Nice to Have Job shop experience (high-mix, low-volume) rather than high-volume production Experience machining non-ferrous metals or engineered plastics Working knowledge of GD&T Fanuc and Haas controls; Mastercam or comparable CAM software Experience supervising paint or assembly in addition to machining Made2Manage or a similar ERP Work Environment Manufacturing shop floor with exposure to machine noise, chips, oils, coolants, dust, and seasonal heat and cold. Requires standing and walking most of the shift, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear required.
