Assistant Operations Manager About This Role… The Assistant Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Coastal Metal Roofing Supply, a Gibraltar company, at its metal fabrication facility in Ladson, South Carolina. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for coordinating production activities, maintaining an organized and efficient shop environment, and promoting a culture of safety and operational excellence. Working closely with the Operations Manager, this role helps ensure projects are completed on schedule, resources are effectively utilized, and employees have the support needed to deliver quality results. The Assistant Operations Manager contributes directly to operational performance, customer satisfaction, and the continued growth and success of Coastal Metal Roofing Supply. What You'll Do Coordinate and oversee daily production schedules to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. Monitor shop workflow and adjust priorities as needed to meet customer requirements and operational demands. Maintain an organized, clean, and productive 10,000-square-foot metal fabrication facility. Promote and enforce safe work practices while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Identify, investigate, and address workplace safety hazards and operational issues before they impact productivity. Partner with the Operations Manager to resolve scheduling, equipment, staffing, and workflow challenges. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, efficiency, and cost control. Assist with employee coordination, communication, and day-to-day operational leadership on the shop floor. Monitor production progress and communicate updates to leadership regarding schedules, priorities, and resource needs. What Success Looks Like In your first year, you will: Establish a strong understanding of production workflows, equipment, and operational priorities. Build positive working relationships with production employees and leadership teams. Improve production scheduling effectiveness and on-time delivery performance. Maintain a safe work environment through consistent OSHA compliance and proactive hazard identification. Contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency, organization, and overall shop productivity. Help create a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the facility. What You'll Bring Must-Haves High school diploma or equivalent required. 3+ years of experience in a metal fabrication, manufacturing, or production environment. Previous experience leading teams, coordinating work, or providing shop-floor supervision. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices. Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, supervisors, and management. Proficiency with standard computer applications and production-related documentation. Ability to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment and actively support daily operations. Nice-to-Haves Associate's degree or technical training in manufacturing, operations, industrial technology, or a related field. Experience in metal fabrication, welding, machining, or custom manufacturing operations. Prior experience in a supervisory or assistant management role. Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process optimization experience. Knowledge of inventory management, production planning, and equipment maintenance practices. Location, Travel and Compensation On-site position based in Ladson, South Carolina.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Friday, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Eligible for health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid vacation, 401(k), and bonus program. The estimated salary range for this role is dependent on experience, location, and qualifications.
