The Production Supervisor - Second Shift is responsible for leading and coordinating production operations during the second shift to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing of products. This role supervises production employees, drives operational performance, promotes a culture of safety and accountability, and ensures compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for supporting continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining 6S standards, and achieving production goals while fostering employee development and engagement. Duties and responsibilities Production Operations Organize, coordinate, and monitor daily production activities to ensure production schedules and customer requirements are met. Supervise second-shift production personnel and provide leadership to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency goals. Ensure proper staffing and resource allocation to support operational needs. Monitor production processes and equipment performance to minimize downtime and maximize output. Review production reports, operating metrics, and shift performance results. Team Leadership and Development Communicate job expectations and performance standards to production employees. Train, coach, and develop team members to improve performance, productivity, and engagement. Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback. Address employee concerns and administer disciplinary actions, when necessary, in accordance with company policies. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment. Safety and Compliance Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Lead safety initiatives and ensure employees follow established safety procedures. Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Food Safety and Quality Support and maintain compliance with SQF, GMP, HACCP, and FSMA regulations. Ensure all production activities meet food safety and quality standards. Verify adherence to sanitation procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Participate in internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as required. C ontinuous Improvement and 5S Promote and maintain 5S standards throughout the production area. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance. Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Analyze production data and operational trends to develop and implement process improvements. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities. Reporting and Performance Management Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including safety, quality, productivity, waste, downtime, and labor efficiency. Prepare and communicate shift performance reports to management. Maintain accurate production and employee records. Support sustainability efforts through monitoring resource utilization and waste reduction initiatives. Education Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Food Science, Business Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing leadership experience may be considered. Experience Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or food production environment. Experience working in multi-shift operations preferred. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence methodologies. Experience with food manufacturing, SQF, GMP, HACCP, and FSMA requirements preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to adapt quickly and effectively across different shifts and departments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and production reporting systems. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices. Working Conditions Primarily assigned to the Second Shift with flexibility to support other shifts as needed. Work performed in a manufacturing and food production environment. Requires standing, walking, and monitoring operations for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds .
