Job Summary:

The Rendering Plant Supervisor reports to the Moroni Turkey Processing (MTP) First Process Superintendent and is responsible for the overall operation and quality assurance of the Rendering Plant, including the supervision of shift employees and compliance with all regulations and company standards.

Essential Functions:

1. Oversee and manage all functions of the Rendering Plant. Overall responsibility for safety, quality, equipment, scheduling, personnel, and logistics of all rendering operations. This role includes oversight of the actual rendering operations of proteins, feathers, and fats as well as cold slurry products and water screening and wastewater pre-treatment operations. 2. Develop and maintain continuous improvement initiatives with cross-functional collaboration for all short and long-term production and marketing goals which includes maintaining third party certifications. 3. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Safety minded with emphasis on preventative over reactive actions. 2. Strong mechanical acumen. 3. Ability to effectively manage, communicate with, and develop all subordinates while leading both direct employees and being a leader cross-functionally among all staff. 4. Effective communication with all levels of stakeholders both internally and externally as needed. 5. Self-motivated with high independent executive function. 6. Ability to lift and properly move at least 60 lbs. 7. Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions with heavy moisture for long periods of time. 8. Knowledge of and ability to understand government regulations and third-party standards for safety, environment, quality with emphasis on animal and poultry byproducts.

Qualifications:

1. Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach. 2. BS in engineering, science, business, or related field and 2 years supervisory experience in any type of meat processing operation OR 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a poultry rendering operation. 3. PCQI for animal food required (may be obtained within first 6 months of hire). 4. Experience with SQF, BRC, or other similar GFSI programs. 5. Bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful but not required.
