General Foreman - Structural Steel Fabrication Join the Extreme Steel team! Extreme Steel, Inc. is a growing AISC-certified structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabricator and erector serving the DC, Virginia, and Maryland areas. We are looking for an experienced General Foreman to help oversee shop operations, support production teams, and maintain efficient fabrication workflows. What You'll Do Coordinate daily structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication operations. Organize production priorities across multiple crews and shop areas. Support foremen, welders, fitters, fabricators, machine operators, material handlers, and shop helpers to maintain workflow efficiency. Review shop drawings, fabrication details, cut lists, and work orders with production teams. Monitor production progress and communicate updates, delays, material shortages, manpower needs, and quality concerns to management. Balance labor, materials, workflow, and shop resources to meet project schedules and deadlines. Ensure fabrication work meets drawings, specifications, weld requirements, and company quality standards. Identify fit-up issues, dimensional inaccuracies, weld concerns, and rework needs. Reinforce safety procedures, PPE requirements, equipment safety standards, and housekeeping practices. Coordinate movement of steel materials, components, tools, and equipment throughout the shop. Support training, coaching, and accountability of crew members and production employees. Step in hands-on when needed to support production and resolve shop floor challenges. Requirements Strong experience in structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous steel fabrication, welding, fitting, or related steel shop operations. Previous experience as a Foreman, General Foreman, Shop Lead, or Production Leader required. Ability to coordinate multiple crews and production areas within a fabrication shop environment. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, cut sheets, measurements, and production requirements. Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes including layout, fitting, welding, drilling, grinding, assembly, and material handling. Ability to inspect fabricated steel components for proper fit, weld quality, measurements, and overall accuracy. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Organized, dependable, safety-focused, and team-oriented. Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or handling large steel components preferred.
