Production Planning & Workflow Management Monitor and implement production schedules for all machining departments. Provide feedback to planning as work progresses through production. Prioritize jobs based on deadlines, material availability, and machine capacity. Coordinate required tools, materials, fixtures and documentation for upcoming jobs. Work closely with Programming and Engineering to resolve print discrepancies and machining challenges. Identify workflow bottlenecks and adjust priorities to maintain throughput. Ensure every work center is ready to start production prior to completion of the job currently in work, including verifying all cutters, tools, and paperwork have been pulled and prepared. Ensure all completed jobs are refilled within 24 hours of the last WorkOrder being pulled for setup. 2. Leadership, Team Coordination & Mentorship Provide daily direction to machinists, operators, and support personnel. Conduct shift meetings to review priorities, safety notes, production goals, previous-day scrap, and current hurdles. Mentor operators in machining practices, troubleshooting, workflow organization, and process understanding. Support training and onboarding of new team members. Foster a positive, productive and collaborative shop environment. 3. Quality Control, In-Process Checks & Traceability Work closely with the Quality department to ensure parts meet all specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements and conform to ISO9001:2015 standards. Ensure operators complete all required in-process inspections at prescribed intervals. Maintain and monitor material traceability, including heat lots and certification tracking. Track accurate part counts, monitor scrap rates and document discrepancies. Assist with root-cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures for nonconforming parts. Coordinate and perform rework on nonconforming parts whenever feasible, ensuring proper documentation, updated inspection processes, and communication with Quality. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and 5S within all departments. 4. Equipment Oversight, Troubleshooting & Hands-On Machining Monitor overall machine utilization and help optimize production throughput. Coordinate with maintenance on repairs and preventative maintenance tasks. Support improvement initiatives related to tooling, fixtures, programs, and machining efficiencies. 5. Operator Training & Development Train and monitor day-to-day operator safety. Oversee training for Pro-Shop log-ins, shift expectations, and basic work practices.

Oversee operator training on:

Manual mill, Manual lathe, AutoSaw, BandSaw, ColdSaw, Washing stations, Sandblast stations Oversee chip collection, coolant preparation, disposal processes, and way-oil filling. Ensure operators maintain general shop and machine cleanliness. 6. Work Center Resource Allocation Verify that an adequate number of qualified operators are available for required work centers. Work with Leads to ensure operators are fully utilized. Adjust personnel assignments to match changing workload demands. Identify when overtime will be required to maintain schedule commitments. Report operator under-utilization or over-utilization trends to management. 7. Cross-Department Communication & Workflow Continuity Coordinate closely with Deburr, Assembly, Shipping/Receiving, and Quality to ensure smooth part flow. Communicate schedule progress, risks, and resource needs to management. Adjust workflow quickly based on revised customer needs, delays, or material changes. Improve communication and visibility of production issues across the company. 8. Outplant Purchase Orders & Purchasing Support Manage outplant PO creation, tracking, and follow-up, including processes such as outside machining, heat treating, plating, anodizing, coatings, and other vendor services. Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery, correct processes, and compliance with specifications. Support internal purchasing tasks as needed, including material requests, MRO items, tooling orders, and consumables. Qualifications Required 5+ years of manufacturing experience. Prior production supervisor or similar leadership experience. Strong background in CNC machining (turning and milling). Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, inspection plans, and manufacturing documentation. Understanding of in-process inspections, traceability, part counts, and scrap control. Strong communication and multitasking abilities. Preferred Experience with Multi Spindle Turret Lathes, Horizontal Mills, and Swiss-style machining. Aerospace machining background. Prior experience with outplant processing and vendor coordination. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and shop scheduling tools such as ProShop ERP. Lean/5S and continuous improvement experience. Work Environment & Physical Requirements High-precision machining environment with frequent movement between departments. Standing or walking for extended periods. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs. Exposure to coolants, cutting fluids, metal chips, and typical shop conditions.
