Summary:
Supervise and coordinate work activities of fabrication team members, while also performing those same work activities. These activities include operating various pieces of equipment to fabricate materials per customer specifications in conjunction with quality requirements, safety standards and manufacturing philosophies within a team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
To perform this position successfully, a team member must perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned Demonstrates skill in the areas of
MIG & TIG
welding, machine operation, grinding & polishing, layout, print reading and verifying Operate Fab Shop machinery and equipment Meet and maintain quality and performance expectations including: o Efficiencies and Utilization o Productivity standards o Quality o Rework o OTD Communicate with customer representatives on job requirements and scope of each project Interpret customer drawings to collaborate with partner departments for manufacturability of the project. Read and interpret job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements Fit, tack and weld fabrications complete Measure work piece dimensions to verify to print Maintain a clean and organized work area Communicate and work in conjunction with other departments and team members regarding accurate and timely completion of projects Coach team members for development and performance purposes Identify problems, develop alternative solutions and gather/present information toward implementing alternative actions Train new team members on BSMW processes and procedures Demonstrate initiative and willingness to undertake increased responsibility Exhibit ability to prioritize and plan work activities, manage time efficiently and meet objectives to complete projects Follow safe manufacturing and material handling practices
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent Capable of leading a team toward production goals and objectives Willingness to coach, teach, and mentor teammates for development and performance Ability to coordinate your teams workload along with maintaining performance metrics and Quality requirements 5+ years welding experience Ability to read and interpret weld symbols and blue prints Ability to operate hand/air tools and electric grinders
Preferred Qualifications :
Technical or Associates degree in Welding preferred Prior operation of overhead cranes, forklift, tape measure and caliper, basic hand tools and square protractor Ability to determine material types and gauges Prior exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes Physical Demands Usual and customary methods of performing this job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting and/or moving (25 pounds regularly, 50-100 pounds frequently), standing (up to 12 hours), carrying, pushing, reaching and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stopping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under temperature variations and some hazardous conditions. Team member regularly works near moving mechanical parts, works with a broad range of electrical tools, and is exposed to potential risk of electrical shock for which several safety precautions are mandatory. Safety gear and clothing is required, including but not necessarily limited to, safety shoes, eye protection, safety gloves, protective apparel and a welding shield / helmet.
