JOB SUMMARY
This position is a hands-on leadership role that is required to direct and promote productivity, quality, safety, and continuous improvement within our facilities. The successful candidate will possess the mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of all lines within their department and be capable of supporting operations as needed once trained, though the role is not intended to serve as a regular line operator. Responsible for reviewing and adjusting employee time and attendance and works with HR for matters related to employee selection, retention, coaching, and discipline, among others. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage the activities of the shop floor and follow established procedures and approved processes with an eye on continuous improvement.
- Lead all production operations. An ability to plan ahead to ensure proper inventory and staffing levels to meet and exceed production needs. Must have ability to run all lines in department.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements and deliver manufactured products in a timely manner.
- Maintain daily communication with the Customer Service Department and schedule delivery to accommodate customer needs.
- Plays active part in employee selection and retention, performance and merit reviews, and discipline. Provide necessary training to ensure the quality of work performed by the department. Maintain a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the company and Department's mission in an effective and efficient manner. Interview and recommend applicants for hire.
- Plan and coordinate work; train, motivate, monitor and evaluate performance of employees; ensure their ability to safely operate all machinery, tools and equipment. Counsel and document employees' performance issues (good and bad) and handle accordingly.
- Driving quality, safety and productivity initiatives.
- Ensure all employees keep the production area neat and organized at all times.
