well-established manufacturing company in the Milwaukee area is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations within a metal casting/foundry environment. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys being on the production floor, working closely with employees, and keeping production moving safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing leadership experience, with foundry, casting, molding, melting, or related metal-processing experience highly preferred . This position offers the opportunity to lead a skilled production team while helping improve processes, productivity, quality, and overall department performance. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily production activities and provide direction to employees within the assigned department. Plan and distribute daily work assignments based on production schedules, priorities, and customer requirements. Monitor production progress and make adjustments as needed to keep jobs on schedule. Provide clear instructions and expectations to employees regarding production methods, quality, safety, and job requirements. Review upcoming orders, production deadlines, and department workload to identify potential issues before they impact delivery. Participate in regular production meetings and communicate department performance, staffing needs, production concerns, and upcoming priorities. Work closely with employees to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, quality, and workflow. Train, coach, and develop team members while holding employees accountable for performance and workplace expectations. Delegate responsibilities effectively and provide hands-on leadership on the production floor. Partner with the maintenance team to address equipment issues and ensure machinery, tools, and production equipment remain operational. Help troubleshoot production problems and determine practical solutions to minimize downtime and delays. Establish and maintain consistent work practices and procedures throughout the department. Assist with implementing continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost effectiveness. Ensure employees follow company safety procedures, operating standards, and established production practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Communicate effectively with management, production employees, maintenance, quality, and other departments. Take ownership of department performance and help ensure finished products meet established quality and customer requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 7+ years of manufacturing or production supervisory experience preferred. Previous experience in a foundry, metal casting, molding, melt shop, or similar manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, coach, and motivate production employees. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and production demands in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a larger team. Understanding of continuous improvement principles and structured problem-solving techniques. Ability to work with employees from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and addressing issues as they arise.
