This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who takes pride in excellent work, leads by example, and enjoys helping a small team succeed. The role is evenly divided between our powder coating and waterjet operations while also overseeing the daily workflow and performance of approximately 4-5 manufacturing staff . We're looking for more than technical experience. Tucson, Arizona — local applicants only Position Summary The Manufacturing Production Lead works directly alongside our production team while helping oversee the day-to-day operation of our manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for operating and supporting both our powder coating department and waterjet cutting system to manufacture premium architectural signage. You will also help coordinate daily production priorities, oversee approximately 4-5 staff, maintain quality standards, support training, and keep work moving efficiently through the shop. This is not a desk-based management position. The Production Lead is expected to work alongside the team, learn our established processes, operate equipment, solve problems, maintain a clean and organized facility, and lead by example. Every product we manufacture is custom, and every detail matters. Key Responsibilities Production Leadership Oversee the daily workflow of approximately 4-5 manufacturing staff Help establish daily priorities and ensure production stays on schedule Lead by example and work alongside the production team Train, support, and help develop manufacturing staff Reinforce established production procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards Monitor employee performance and communicate concerns to ownership Help create a positive, accountable, team-oriented work environment Identify opportunities to improve quality, workflow, efficiency, and productivity Communicate production status, equipment concerns, staffing needs, and potential delays to ownership Powder Coating Prepare aluminum products by sanding, cleaning, drilling, and hanging parts Apply powder coat finishes using electrostatic spray equipment Operate curing ovens while monitoring temperatures and cure cycles Inspect finished products for coverage, texture, color consistency, and overall quality Maintain powder coating equipment, spray booth, and work areas Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance Waterjet Operations Operate waterjet cutting equipment to manufacture architectural signage Load materials and prepare production jobs Monitor cutting operations for dimensional accuracy and product quality Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning Troubleshoot minor production issues and communicate equipment concerns Organize completed parts for finishing and downstream production Qualifications Previous manufacturing, fabrication, production, construction, automotive, or related hands-on experience Previous experience leading, supervising, or training employees strongly preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment and processes Experience operating industrial machinery or CNC equipment is a plus Powder coating experience is preferred but not required—we're willing to train the right candidate Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work Comfortable using hand tools and industrial equipment Ability to organize people, priorities, and workflow in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to hold others accountable while maintaining a respectful, team-oriented environment Dependable, hardworking, and willing to contribute wherever needed Physical ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move materials Work Environment This is an active, hands-on manufacturing position. The work includes regular exposure to industrial equipment, heat, dust, and noise, along with frequent standing, bending, lifting, and material handling. Required PPE includes respirators, eye protection, hearing protection, and other safety equipment.
