Hours range from 5-13 hours/week. Visit www.sacmetrocable.tv for job announcement/application instructions. Perform technical video production work involving the recording and broadcast of governmental agency meetings, such as the Sacramento City Council and the County Board of Supervisors. Mostly working in small control rooms. Production Assistant I (PA I): Entry-level position. Under close supervision, in a learning capacity to perform technical audio visual (AV) assignments, assists in the set up and operation of studio television equipment including but not limited to video cameras and controllers; character generator (CG), lighting, sound (mixer), video switchers, and recording/playback equipment and cabling. Production Assistant II (PA II): Experienced-level position. Incumbents receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. Work independently and communicate effectively by e-mail, phone, and in person. Type and edit text (Computer Graphics) with proper spelling and grammar.
Education and Experience:
For PA I :
Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by courses in television/video production.
For PA II :
Equivalent to the completion of an associate degree from an accredited college or university in digital media, media communications, television broadcasting or a closely related field.
One year A/V experience:
operation of video recording and playback equipment, cameras, controllers, CG, microphones, and audio mixers. It is helpful to have knowledge of: Computer operations (PC/laptop) and file transfer (Windows). Internet connections and protocol (file uploads/downloads, VPN connection and logins); and platforms such as Google Drive and Google Docs.
Must have:
Valid California Driver's License (Class C); reliable transportation and meet automobile insurability requirements; ability to work flexible schedules including evenings; ability to sit for a long period of time and lift 50 pounds; strong team player. Upon hire, should be available to work at least two shifts per week. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are generally the busiest days/nights. Most meetings are held Monday
- Thursday; Friday or weekend shifts are rare.
