Job Description

Just Buttons | Branford, CT | Part-Time Starting at $20/hour, with opportunities for increases as you become fully trained and take on greater responsibility About the Job Just Buttons is a small, family-owned custom button and sticker company looking for a hands-on Production Lead to run the day-to-day flow of our production floor. This is a working leadership position , not a desk job and not a traditional manufacturing management role. You'll lead a small team while working alongside them. Your job is to make sure everyone knows what they're working on, orders keep moving, quality standards are met, and we're prepared for what's coming next. Once the floor is organized and everyone has work, you'll jump into production wherever you're most useful. You do not need manufacturing experience. Someone who has successfully worked as an assistant manager, shift lead, team lead, or similar role in retail, food service, fulfillment, production, or another fast-paced environment may be a great fit. We'll teach you how we make our products. What You'll Do Organize and prioritize daily production based on orders and due dates Assign work and provide day-to-day direction to a small production team Work hands-on in all areas of production, including button making, laminating, cutting, punching, assembly, and quality control Make sure employees have prepared work available so production keeps moving Plan ahead so upcoming work is ready when needed Create the weekly production schedule and adjust staffing and hours based on workload Train and cross-train employees in all production functions Keep an eye on production speed, counts, accuracy, and quality Coach employees and address attendance or performance issues using our established policies Identify bottlenecks and solve routine production problems Handle basic equipment troubleshooting Watch for potential parts or supply shortages and alert the owner early Communicate significant problems along with a plan for resolving them You May Be a Great Fit If You... Like being the person who keeps things organized and moving Are very comfortable with numbers, quantities, and basic math Can keep track of multiple jobs and priorities without losing the details Notice when something doesn't look right and want to figure out why Can give people clear direction and hold them accountable without hovering over them Enjoy teaching people and helping them get better at their jobs Can delegate instead of feeling like you have to do everything yourself Stay calm and adapt when the day's plan changes Are comfortable making routine decisions without constantly asking for approval Are willing to do any production job you would ask your team to do Can work quickly and accurately once trained No college degree is required. Previous management or manufacturing experience is not required. We're more interested in your judgment, reliability, organization, comfort with numbers, ability to lead people, and willingness to learn. Schedule Approximately 20-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This is a daytime position with meaningful scheduling flexibility. Hours can shift based on production needs, and additional hours may be available during busy periods. We're less concerned about an arbitrary start and end time than we are about the work getting done, the team having what they need, and production being prepared for what's next. Work Environment We're a small, tight-knit company with a casual work environment. There is no customer service in this position. Once trained, employees commonly listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks while doing appropriate production work. The job involves moving between different production tasks, repetitive hand and arm movements, operating equipment with hand and foot controls, accurately positioning and inspecting products, and lifting materials or supplies weighing up to approximately 40 lbs. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals. We produce custom orders representing many different political, social, religious, and other viewpoints. Employees are expected to handle accepted customer orders professionally even when they may personally disagree with the viewpoint expressed, subject to applicable accommodation requirements. Pay & Perks $20/hour starting pay , with opportunities for increases as you become fully trained, demonstrate strong performance, and take on independent responsibility for the production floor. Flexible daytime scheduling, casual dress, employee discounts, no customer service, a small family-owned workplace, and the opportunity for real responsibility and autonomy. Just Buttons is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to legally protected characteristics and provide reasonable accommodations as required by applicable law.
