Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Hub-tex material handling equipment to support sheet metal fabrication operations. Coordinates the receipt, storage, kitting, and delivery of sheet metal materials to meet production schedules and takt time requirements. Maintains inventory accuracy, minimizes material waste, and independently resolves routine material flow issues while supporting safety, quality, and continuous improvement objectives. Based on the existing Hub-tex Kitting Operator and Backup Operator responsibilities.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate Hub-tex Side Loader and Vacuum Assist Lift equipment safely and efficiently to transport, store, rotate, and deliver materials. Review fabrication schedules and proactively stage materials to support production requirements and takt time goals. Receive, store, kit, and deliver sheet steel and related materials to fabrication work centers. Read and interpret fabrication documents including fabrication sheets, cut plans, nesting drawings, and production schedules. Maintain inventory accuracy through material transactions, cycle counts, and inventory verification activities. Collect, identify, and properly record reusable scrap and drop materials to support material utilization efforts. Retrieve materials from storage areas and yard locations as required to support production schedules. Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns to ensure safe operation of equipment. Respond to routine material shortages and delivery issues to minimize production interruptions. Communicate effectively with Team Leaders, Material Coordinators, Supervisors, and production employees regarding material needs and production priorities. Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while contributing to departmental performance objectives. Assist in training less experienced operators as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Executes against standard processes and Key Performance Indicators (KPls) as defined in the global operating standard established in BAC Excellence (BAC-X) including Global Assembly Standardization (GAS) Expectations. Perform other duties as requested or assigned by leadership. Ability to recognize when the machinery is not running well, trouble shoot and identify issues, adjust as needed. Capable of communicating to all levels of employees, i.e. Team Leader, Station Leader, Material Coordinator, and production employees. Understanding of your customers, previous and next stations and finished goods customer. Know their process and how quality and on-time delivery affect them. Use appropriate methods and interpersonal skills to develop, motivate employees. Ability to work any shift as required to support business needs.. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Ability to understand and respond to job schedules. Ability to remain flexible, self‑motivated, and responsive in a fast‑paced environment.KNOWLEDGE & SKILL
Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum one year of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, warehousing, material handling, or a related industrial environment preferred. Prior experience operating powered industrial equipment preferred. Experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment preferred Technical Knowledge Ability to safely operate a Hubtex Side Loader and related material handling equipment. Working knowledge of fabrication processes, material flow, and production support requirements. Ability to read and interpret fabrication paperwork, cut plans, nesting layouts, and work instructions. Knowledge of inventory control processes, part numbering systems, and material tracking methods. Ability to utilize inventory databases and production-related systems. Ability to use measuring devices including tape measures and gauges. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to changing schedules and shifting production priorities. Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement concepts.
