This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience operating plate rolls, burn tables, and other heavy steel processing equipment in a structural steel or heavy fabrication environment. This is not a CNC machining or heavy-equipment operator position . We are specifically looking for candidates with experience processing large steel plate and structural material in a fabrication shop. Position Responsibilities Operate plate rolls, burn tables, and heavy steel processing machinery Set up and operate equipment according to job specifications, drawings, cut sheets, and production requirements Process heavy steel plate and structural steel accurately and efficiently Load, position, align, and move steel material using overhead cranes and other shop material-handling equipment Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to ensure proper dimensions, cuts, bends, and finished product quality Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, cut sheets, and material specifications Measure finished work using tape measures, calipers, squares, levels, and other measuring tools Inspect material throughout the production process for accuracy and quality Perform basic machine adjustments, troubleshooting, and routine operator maintenance Maintain accurate material identification and traceability Work closely with welders, fitters, fabricators, and shop leads to keep production moving Follow all company safety procedures, including proper PPE and safe material-handling practices Maintain a clean and organized work area Required Experience Previous experience operating heavy steel fabrication or processing machinery Hands-on experience with plate rolls and/or burn tables Experience working with heavy steel plate or structural steel Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and cut sheets Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and material handling Experience using overhead cranes to position and move steel is highly preferred Ability to accurately measure and inspect finished material Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues Ability to work safely around large steel components and industrial machinery Candidates We Want We are targeting candidates with backgrounds such as: Heavy Steel Machine Operator Steel Processing Operator Plate Roll Operator Burn Table Operator Steel Fabrication Machine Operator Structural Steel Machine Operator Plate Processing Operator Heavy Fabrication Operator We are specifically looking for steel fabrication experience — not traditional CNC machining experience or heavy construction equipment operation.
