Job Description
The Sarasota Orchestra currently has openings for the position of Production Assistant! Our next 2026-2027 orchestra season begins in September! This is a wonderful career opportunity to join the orchestra's production team on a part-time basis. Since 1949, Sarasota Orchestra has inspired and entertained music-lovers across the region and visitors from around the world. A cultural leader in a city known for its vibrant arts community, Sarasota Orchestra's threefold mission is dedicated to exquisite performance and first-class musical education. As the oldest continuing orchestra in the state of Florida, each year the 76-member Orchestra performs more than 100 classical, pops, chamber music, and community outreach concerts. The mission of Sarasota Orchestra is to engage, educate, and enrich our community through high-quality, live musical experiences. We have been the foundation for music education across generations, highlighted through both an acclaimed Youth Orchestra program that has nurtured young talent for over 65 years, and an annual music festival for emerging musical artists from around the world. Sarasota, FL General Overview:
Assist in the setup and teardown of Sarasota Orchestra and Youth Orchestra events, Sarasota Music Festival, Summer Music Camp, Friedman Symphony Center rentals, and other functions as needed. The Production Assistant shall also support a respectful and positive working relationship with all employees, orchestra musicians, conductors, volunteers, patrons, vendors and customers, supporting an inclusive, respectful culture and Sarasota Orchestra values.Responsibilities:
- Execute set ups for Sarasota Orchestra and Youth Orchestra services in all performance venues, and for rentals at the Friedman Symphony Center
- Load/Unload orchestra equipment truck for transport to other venues
- Act as a stagehand for Sarasota Orchestra and Youth Orchestra services when needed
- Assist Facilities Manager with building operations/maintenance as assigned
- Maintain positive relationships with orchestra musicians, conductors, staff, Youth Orchestra parents, students, volunteers, and co-workers
- Perform other relevant duties and additional projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under supervision and independently
- Ability to work longer hours during season (Sept - May)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift /move up to 65 lbs- frequent moving and lifting of items during production shifts is required.
