Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description This role supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility that produces oil seals and gaskets. You will work in one of several production departments, operating machinery, assisting with assembly, and performing general labor tasks in a fast-paced, industrial environment. The position requires comfort working around heavy equipment in a dusty, dirty, non-climate-controlled setting while maintaining safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Operate various production machinery, including press machines and injection molding machines, in accordance with safety and quality procedures. Work on assembly lines to support the production of oil seals, gaskets, and PTFE components. Perform sorting and kitting of parts and materials to ensure accurate and timely supply to production lines. Assist with general labor tasks across the production floor as needed, including handling materials and supporting different stages of the manufacturing process. Follow instructions from supervisors and experienced team members to learn and perform assigned duties effectively. Participate in orientation and training activities, including an initial HR orientation and on-the-job training within the assigned shift and department. Maintain a clean and organized work area, even in a dusty and dirty environment, to support safety and efficiency. Wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear, and adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Adapt to working in any of the major departments, including gaskets, oil seals, or PTFE, based on production needs. Meet production goals by working efficiently, staying focused, and collaborating with team members on the B shift schedule. Essential Skills Experience in production, assembly, or general labor in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Ability to operate or learn to operate press machines, injection molding machines, and assembly line equipment. Comfort using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Capability to perform repetitive tasks while standing for extended periods in a fast-paced setting. Willingness and ability to work in a dusty, dirty, non-climate-controlled environment. Reliability to work the B shift schedule: Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts from 4:55 PM to approximately 3:00 AM. Strong attention to safety procedures and proper use of steel-toe footwear and other required protective gear. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and learn from supervisors and team members during training. Basic mechanical aptitude to understand how machinery and production processes operate. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in automotive manufacturing or metal stamping environments. Prior experience working with press machines, injection molding equipment, or similar industrial machinery. Familiarity with assembly line workflows, sorting, and kitting processes. Comfort working across different departments such as gaskets, oil seals, and PTFE production. Willingness to wear jeans and plain t-shirts in accordance with dress guidelines, with no leggings allowed. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a large automotive manufacturing plant with three primary departments: gaskets, oil seals, and PTFE. All departments are dusty, dirty, and non-climate-controlled, so temperatures can vary with the weather and conditions can be industrial and physically demanding. You will work around press machines, injection molding machines, and assembly lines, as well as hand tools and power tools. The B shift runs Monday through Thursday for 10-hour shifts from 4:55 PM to approximately 3:00 AM, with orientation starting on a Monday at 7:45 AM. Day one focuses on HR orientation, and day two transitions you to your assigned shift for on-the-job training with your team and supervisors. The dress code allows jeans and regular plain t-shirts, with steel-toe footwear required and leggings not permitted, reflecting a focus on practicality and safety in a heavy industrial environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.66 - $21.66/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
