Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description This role supports a high-volume wood products production operation by performing hands-on tasks such as drilling, assembling, inspecting, and moving lumber materials. You will use hand and power tools to build and finish wood mats according to production specifications while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work area. Responsibilities Drill precise holes into wood mats according to detailed production specifications and measurements. Insert wood plugs or bits into pre-drilled holes and securely fasten them using a sledgehammer. Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality, accuracy, and production standards. Handle, lift, and move lumber materials throughout the production process in a safe and efficient manner. Operate hand tools and power tools properly and safely to complete daily production tasks. Use measuring tools such as tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure correct placement of components. Support general labor and production activities, including repetitive and labor-intensive tasks as needed. Assist with basic carpentry-related tasks associated with wood mat construction and assembly. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while working on the production floor. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including regular cleanup of wood shavings and debris. Meet production deadlines by working efficiently and coordinating with team members. Operate or assist with forklifts or other material-handling equipment if trained and authorized. Essential Skills Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production, construction, or similar environment. Ability to perform repetitive, labor-intensive work, including heavy lifting and material handling. Basic carpentry or construction experience working with lumber or wood products. Comfort operating and handling power tools safely and efficiently. Ability to read and follow production specifications and measurements using tools such as tape measures. Capability to work safely around machinery and tools while following established safety procedures. Willingness to work on a production floor environment that can be dusty, warm in summer, and cold in winter. Additional Skills & Qualifications Forklift experience or certification is a plus. Bilingual communication skills are a plus. Prior experience in general labor, general production, or construction environments. Experience with inspection or quality checks in a manufacturing or production setting. Familiarity with labor-intensive, fast-paced production work. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.60 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
