Job Description

Grainwell is a privately-owned ingredient, inclusion, and finished goods manufacturer primarily supplying the cereal, granola, nutritional bar, and snack categories. We manufacture a variety of puffed products made from single ingredients, including ancient and traditional grains. Located in Dyersville, IA, our brand new 100,000 sq ft facility is where Grainwell manufactures a range of innovative puffed products using state-of-the-art, all-new puffing and support systems such as air compressors and steam generators. Job purpose:
The Material Handler is responsible for keeping the production and packaging lines fully stocked with the necessary materials to maintain continuous operation throughout the shift. They also pre-stage materials for the next shift to prevent any production interruptions, ensuring all totes and pallets are accurately recorded.
Duties and responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Material Handler is to ensure the continuous flow of raw materials to the production line, accurately reporting production data and documenting all materials consumed.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Nurture a safe, kind, respectful, and competitive environment.
  • Accurately documenting the use of goods. Including lot and Item numbers.
  • Working with packaging and production crews to prepare and stage material needed for the current process.
  • Printing Labels.
  • Recording the Lot numbers and quantities of all material used.
  • Understanding of duties required of a Packaging Technician, and subbing in for that position when necessary.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts to transport raw materials within the facility.
  • Sustaining cleanliness of packaging area.
  • Coordinating with warehouse personnel to ensure inventory accuracy, and production efficiency.
  • Assist with inventory checks and material replenishment as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by site management.
  • Adhere to GMPs, health, and safety guidelines as outlined in quality and food safety procedures.
  • Perform general housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education - High School education or GED preferred.
  • Ability to operate the inline bagger. (Matrix)
  • Forklift Certified.
  • Follow all safety and food safety policies and procedures.
Working conditions:
  • Shift based working hours.
  • Exposure to hot parts on equipment.
  • Indoor working conditions.
  • May be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as production equipment.
  • May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and allergens.
Physical requirements:
  • Able to stand and walk throughout the scheduled work shift.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, reaching, and twisting.
Pay:
From $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 44.0 - 48.0 per week
