SUMMARY:

This position performs the following duties: soldering of through-hole and surface mount components into subassemblies. Other duties include mechanical assembly, visually inspection, manual tests, and final packaging of completed assemblies and products. This position is also required to provide on-line training and assistance to lower level production associates as needed. The Production Associate must be capable of working with any or all of the following documents: Bills of Material, Assembly drawings, Work instructions, or Rework instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assembly of components into a PCB and soldering according to IPC standards.
• Soldering various wire gauge sizes into a PCB.
• Soldering of wire to wire connections and applying heat shrink tubing as required.
• Hand assembly of wire harnesses.
• Stripping of leads and tinning of wire in solder pot.
• Assemble of mechanical parts and housing units in accordance to work instructions and provided documents.
• Perform visual inspection of units for proper assembly and soldering to ensure workmanship standards.
• Modify new and repaired units to the current revision per modification instructions.
• Continuity testing of subassemblies when required.
• Minor repairs of production failures.
• ESD wrist strap testing and logging of daily results.
• May use any or all of the following equipment/tools: solder/rework station, solder pot, fume extractors, various hand tools, air and power tools, wire-strippers, lead forming machines, electronic test equipment, and computer terminal.
• Be responsible for general utility tasks including product movement and workstation setups.
• Provide on-line training and ongoing assistance to lower level production associates as needed.
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in clean and orderly condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years minimum electronics production experience required.
• Soldering Certification is required.
• Must be familiar with Manufacturing Processes and Workmanship Standards and surface mount technology.
• Familiarity with use of various hand, air, and power tools, and test equipment is helpful.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Required to sit, stand, bend and walk regularly; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires fine manual dexterity.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
