Production Helper / Packager Job Description This role supports a high-volume plastic extrusion and packaging operation that produces food packaging for well-known brands. You will work on a production line, primarily at the end of the machines, packing finished trays into boxes and preparing them for material handlers. This position offers a strong opportunity to learn the full production process and grow into more advanced machine operation responsibilities for individuals who bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities + Work at the end of production lines to pack plastic trays and packaging products into boxes in an accurate and efficient manner. + Prepare packed boxes for material handlers by properly closing, labeling, and staging them for the next step in the process. + Perform visual inspections of products to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications before packing. + Sort products as needed to meet quality standards and remove any defective or nonconforming items. + Follow Good Manufacturing Practices ( GMP ) and all site procedures to maintain a clean and safe production area. + Complete required documentation and sign off on jobs to verify that packing and inspection steps are finished correctly. + Work consistently on your feet for the duration of the shift, including standing, walking, and light lifting as needed. + Lift and move boxes and materials weighing up to 10 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. + Collaborate with team members and leads to maintain steady production flow and communicate any issues or concerns. + Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time, following instructions, and staying engaged throughout the full shift. + Show interest in learning how the machines and production process work, with the potential to train on equipment over time. Essential Skills + At least 6 months of experience working in a manufacturing environment. + Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to 10 hours per day. + Ability to safely lift and handle items weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis. + Comfort working in a hot environment and in a facility that is not temperature controlled. + Comfort working in a production setting with repetitive tasks and consistent workflows. + Attention to detail for visual inspection, sorting, and packing of products. + Reliability and willingness to work a shift schedule that includes afternoon and evening hours (4:00 pm-2:30 am). + Ability to follow safety guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices, and standard operating procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Zurich, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.75
