Walnut Valley Packing is looking for a dependable, hard-working Production Associate to join our slaughter floor team. This is a hands-on cattle slaughter and beef processing position. No previous slaughter experience is required, and we will train the right person. However, experience safely handling and moving cattle is strongly preferred. This job involves working directly with live cattle and participating in all parts of the slaughter process. Applicants need to understand that this is physical work in a slaughter environment involving blood, knives, animal processing, wet floors, and both warm and cold temperatures. What You'll Do Safely move and handle live cattle through pens, alleyways, and into the slaughter area Learn and perform all stages of the cattle slaughter process Follow humane livestock handling and slaughter procedures Use knives, hand tools, and processing equipment safely Assist with hide removal, evisceration, splitting, trimming, and other slaughter-floor duties Clean and sanitize the slaughter floor, equipment, and work areas Follow USDA, food-safety, sanitation, and personal-hygiene requirements Work as part of a production team and help wherever needed on the slaughter floor What We're Looking For Experience safely handling and moving cattle is strongly preferred Slaughter or meat-processing experience is preferred but not required Must be at least 18 years old Must be dependable and show up on time Must be willing to learn and follow instructions Must work well as part of a team Must follow safety and sanitation procedures Must be comfortable working around live cattle and in a slaughter environment Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand and perform physical work for most of the shift Ability to perform repetitive tasks using knives and hand tools Ability to work in both warm and cold temperatures Ability to work on wet floors and in a meat-processing environment Walnut Valley Packing provides required PPE, including rubber boots.
