Job Description

Chesapeake Light Craft is searching for a bright, energetic, small-boat enthusiast to join our Production team. The title/position we're looking to fill is Production Assistant. Outdoor enthusiasts who love paddling/rowing/sailing and might be familiar with a CNC machine and/or woodworking equipment. Boatbuilding skills and CNC experience would be great, but not required. Please keep in mind, boating experience does not always necessarily make the best candidate for this position; We hire/inspire from the ground up…Paid training is provided. You will find our shop a "toy factory" that rewards versatility, flexibility, and a sense of fun. The Production Assistant is responsible for manufacturing/cutting, organizing and packing boat kit components to be shipped globally in a safe, efficient and productive manner. This is a fast paced work environment; speed and consistency should be a key aspect of your work over a long period of time. Chesapeake Light Craft is the world's largest boat-kit company. The work is challenging and fast-paced for most newcomers. You'll be expected to acquire a deep understanding and ownership of all our kits and their contents. Builders of all experience levels rely on you; you'll be signing your name to the checklist of each kit. This job includes a lot of variety, but primarily you'll be machining, organizing, packing, and shipping kits. Paid training is provided. As a member of our production team, you will be an integral part of what keeps our ship afloat.
Key Accountabilities:
Being prompt (on time) and ready to work. Maintaining machinery within the shop (basic maintenance). Assisting in other aspects of the production process. Managing the production schedule efficiently (staying on a reasonable schedule). Assisting with occasional boat shows and demos. Taking pride in your work and enjoying yourself while doing it. Working hours are 8:30 - 5:00 including a break for lunch. This is an entry-level position with room for advancement. Salary negotiable, commensurate with experience and benefits include paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave; matching Simple IRA, boat and workshop privileges, and a collegial, dynamic work environment. You should be able to lift up to 50+ pounds on your own. You will be in direct contact with customers and boatbuilding students from time to time, so an upbeat personality is a must!
