Pittsfield, Maine Full-Time | On-Site Bring Your Patternmaking Experience to a Maine Manufacturer CM Almy is looking for an experienced Apparel Pattern Maker to join our manufacturing team in Pittsfield, Maine. If you have hands-on experience developing production patterns for sewn apparel and are proficient with Gerber AccuMark, we would like to talk with you. This is not a fashion design position. We are looking for someone who understands how garments are actually made—from pattern development and fabric cutting through sewing and finished production—and can turn a design into an accurate, repeatable manufacturing process. This position works full-time, on-site at our Pittsfield, Maine manufacturing facility. We are especially interested in experienced apparel professionals who live within commuting distance of Pittsfield, including the Waterville, Skowhegan, Newport, Bangor, Augusta and surrounding areas. Who We Are CM Almy has been making clergy apparel and products for churches since 1892. Many of our products are designed, cut, sewn and finished by our employees right here in Pittsfield, Maine. Our products include clergy shirts and apparel, vestments, choir robes, church linens and other specialized sewn products. We manufacture products that require attention to fit, construction, fabric characteristics, quality and craftsmanship. Our employees know their craft. What You'll Do As our Apparel Pattern Maker, you will work closely with our experienced manufacturing, cutting and sewing teams to develop and maintain patterns and production specifications for both existing and new products.

Your responsibilities will include:

Create, modify, grade and maintain production-ready apparel patterns using Gerber AccuMark. Develop markers and pattern layouts that support accurate cutting and efficient fabric utilization. Translate garment designs, samples and specifications into patterns that can be consistently manufactured. Work hands-on with sewing operators, cutters and production leadership to test and refine patterns. Create patterns for new products and make improvements to existing products. Evaluate fit, construction methods, seam allowances, fabric characteristics and other factors that affect garment production. Support prototype and sample development and make pattern corrections based on production results. Maintain accurate digital pattern files, specifications and related manufacturing documentation. Help establish the materials and manufacturing operations required to produce each product. Troubleshoot pattern, cutting, sewing and construction issues that arise during production. Help document standardized manufacturing methods and train employees when new or revised products are introduced. Look for opportunities to simplify construction, improve quality, reduce material waste and make products easier and more efficient to manufacture. What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate has: Professional experience creating patterns for apparel or other sewn products. Hands-on experience working in an apparel, garment or sewn-products manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Gerber AccuMark patternmaking software. Strong understanding of garment construction, including cutting, sewing, seams, fabric behavior and production methods. Experience taking a garment or sewn product from pattern development through production. Ability to identify and correct pattern, fit and construction problems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with experienced sewing and cutting operators. Experience with pattern grading, marker making, product specifications, bills of materials, bills of operations, time studies, manufacturing engineering, Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement is a plus. Education A degree in Apparel Design, Apparel Manufacturing, Textile Technology, Fashion Design, Patternmaking or a related field is welcome, but we also recognize that great patternmakers often develop their expertise through years of hands-on experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and substantial apparel manufacturing experience will be considered. Work Location This is a full-time, on-site manufacturing position in Pittsfield, Maine. Because this position works directly with our patterns, products, cutters, sewing operators and manufacturing processes, it cannot be performed remotely.
