Job Title:
Press Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Press Operator to join our team on the 2nd shift from 1:00pm to 11:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a possible 5-hour shift on Saturdays, subject to change. Currently, the Brake area is operating on 11-hour days, so candidates should be comfortable with this schedule. The Press Operator will set up and operate Brake Press machines, reading blueprints and using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and 360-degree protractors. While we can train those with high aptitude, candidates must be mechanically inclined. Knowledge of bending, rolling, and forming techniques is a plus, and we are looking for individuals who work with purpose and urgency. Responsibilities Set up and operate Brake Press machine to bend, form, and shape metal according to blueprints and customer specifications. Produce quality parts within customer specifications. Perform quality checks using precise measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, protractors, and other measuring tools as needed. Troubleshoot equipment and programming to identify and correct root cause of non-conforming parts. Increase production efficiency by reducing set-up time, optimizing machine usage, and maintaining quality. Adhere to documentation procedures. Complete necessary training and certification to operate hi-lo equipment safely and efficiently as needed to perform job duties. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Essential Skills Ability to perform calculations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Knowledge of bending, forming, and rolling techniques. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency to meet scheduled daily goals. Acute attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. 1+ year of experience in metal fabrication and/or Brake Press operation. Work Environment Candidates will work in an environment requiring steel-toed boots/shoes, jeans that are not overly holey, baggy, or saggy, and a dark T-shirt without graphic designs. Shorts and tank tops are not permitted. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Byron Center, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
