Rochester Hills, MI Job Details 3 days ago Qualifications Mechanical blueprint interpretation High school diploma or GED Mechanical drawings Full Job Description Job Summary The Model Maker uses prints, drawings, specifications, or other means to create a model to a customer specification. Duties and Responsibilities Constructing, assembling, or modifying parts, models, molds, and fixtures using manual and power tools. Expertise in selecting and working with various materials, including plastics, metals, and composites. Align, fit, and join parts using bolts and screws or by welding or gluing. Cut, shape, and form parts using lathes, power saws, snips, power brakes and shears, files, and mallets. Drill, countersink, and ream holes in parts and assemblies for bolts, screws, and other fasteners, using power tools. Grind, file, and sand parts to finished dimensions. Inspect and test products to verify conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments or circuit testers. Also includes Inspecting finished models for accuracy, troubleshooting, and testing functionality. Lay out and mark reference points and dimensions on materials, using measuring instruments and drawing or scribing tools. Other duties as assigned Previous experience working in an automotive company making models. Must be able to read blueprints and interpret engineering drawings. A high school diploma is required; or a certificate from an accredited technical or industrial trade school is preferred.
