Job Description
Job Title:
Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate plays a key role in manufacturing and assembling custom windows and door walls in a high-volume production facility. You work in one of several areas-Shipping & Receiving, Frames, Sashes, or Doorwall/Casements-and receive ongoing cross-training on different sub-assemblies as you develop your skills. This is a hands-on role that involves frequent lifting, use of hand tools, and repetitive motions in a fast-paced environment focused on quality and efficiency. Responsibilities Assemble windows and door walls by accurately measuring and cutting vinyl, glass, and other materials according to specifications. Perform repetitive lifting and moving of materials weighing between 10 and 50+ pounds throughout the shift, depending on the assigned area. Punch holes into materials and strip materials as required for specific sub-assemblies. Use hand tools such as hammers and other basic tools safely and effectively during assembly tasks. Place flexible glass into frames and ensure proper fit and finish of all components. Support production operations, which may include operating machines, saws, or welding equipment when employed directly by the company (not while working under contract). Perform repetitive motions including grasping, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, squatting, and standing for the full duration of the shift. Maintain a clean and organized work area by stocking materials and cleaning workstations and general areas. Follow safety guidelines and production procedures to meet quality standards and production quotas in a fast-paced environment. Adapt to varying job duties as assignments may differ from person to person and change as cross-training progresses. Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support overall production and shipping operations. Essential Skills Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds for the majority of the shift (at least 6 out of 8 hours), particularly in the more physically demanding window-building areas. Demonstrated experience in roles where lifting 50 pounds repeatedly was required for most of the workday. Basic knowledge of hand tools, including the ability to properly hold and handle a hammer and similar tools (training on specific tool use is provided). Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where production quotas or performance metrics must be met. Experience in environments that required meeting quotas or production targets as part of daily responsibilities. Ability to stand on your feet for the entire duration of an 8-hour shift without difficulty. Demonstrated ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, and squatting during a work shift. Comfort working in a hot, noisy production environment with fluctuating temperatures and moderate noise levels. Willingness and ability to perform repetitive motions such as grasping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting throughout the shift. General production, assembly, or general labor experience involving tasks such as lifting boxes, packing, and using hand or power tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read a tape measure accurately is preferred and considered a nice-to-have skill. Experience in general production, assembly, packaging, or similar roles involving repetitive tasks and material handling. Comfort using basic power tools in a production or warehouse setting. Strong work ethic and reliability, including consistent attendance and willingness to work until the day's production is completed. Ability to adapt to different sub-assembly roles and learn new tasks as cross-training opportunities arise. Why Work Here? You join a stable, long-established manufacturer that invests in your growth and rewards strong performance. Direct employees receive structured, performance-based raises every six months for three years, with increases typically ranging from $0.30 to $0.80 per hour each cycle. This progression allows you to significantly increase your hourly pay over time while remaining in the same role. The work environment supports practical skill development with ongoing cross-training across multiple production areas, giving you the opportunity to broaden your experience and advance your capabilities. You benefit from a predictable weekday schedule with no weekend work, clear expectations, and a culture that values hard work, consistency, and continuous improvement. Work Environment This role is based inside a manufacturing facility with temperature conditions that fluctuate with the seasons, similar to a large garage environment. During warmer periods, large doors are opened and fans are used throughout the facility to improve airflow, while the break room is air-conditioned to provide a cooler space during breaks and lunch. When temperatures are very hot, coolers with Gatorade are provided in the break room for everyone. The noise level is moderate, and the building is well lit to support safe and efficient work. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the expectation to stay until the day's work is completed, which is typically around 2:30 p.m. Average weekly hours range from 40 to 50, with it being very rare to exceed 50 hours. You receive one 10-minute break in the morning and a 1-hour lunch, and you may leave the premises during lunch. The approach to bathroom and water breaks is relaxed, allowing you to leave your station as needed, provided it does not become excessive or impact production metrics. The work involves standing for the entire shift, frequent lifting and repetitive motions, and regular use of hand tools and, when employed directly, potential use of machines, saws, or welding equipment. A practical, comfortable work attire suitable for a hot, noisy, production environment is expected. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Taylor, MI.
