PM Location:
Minneapolis, MN 55413 Position Overview We are seeking a dependable Shear Operator to join the pressroom of a precision metal stamping manufacturer. This position is responsible for operating metal shearing equipment to cut and prepare sheet metal for production while maintaining accuracy, quality, and safe material handling practices. The ideal candidate has previous experience with metal shearing, sheet metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing equipment. Candidates with related metalworking or machine operation experience are also encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate metal shearing equipment to cut sheet metal according to work orders and specifications Read and follow cut lists, job travelers, work instructions, and production requirements Measure and verify material dimensions before and after cutting Safely load, position, handle, and move sheet metal throughout the work area Inspect completed cuts for dimensional accuracy and overall quality Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, or gauges as required Enter production and material information into company systems Identify and report material, quality, or equipment issues Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards Qualifications Previous metal shearing, sheet metal fabrication, or related manufacturing experience preferred Experience operating industrial production machinery Ability to read measurements and follow work orders and production instructions Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Mechanical aptitude and good problem-solving skills Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to safely handle sheet metal and work around industrial machinery Basic computer skills for production tracking and data entry Forklift, warehouse, material-handling, or punch press experience is a plus Candidates with strong metal fabrication or machine operating experience who are willing to learn shearing equipment are encouraged to apply.
