Founded in 1950, Sheridan Sheet Metal Company is a Minnesota-based leader in architectural sheet metal fabrication and installation. We specialize in high-end, architectural steel and copper systems , including custom gutters, downspouts, standing seam roofing, bay roofs, soldered flat lock panels, and complex flashing systems. Our reputation is built on precision craftsmanship, problem-solving, and doing work that others can't . We serve both residential and commercial markets and are continuing to grow.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman / Lead Architectural Sheet Metal Worker to take ownership of our fabrication shop in New Hope. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who excels in detailed layout, custom fabrication, and mentoring others . You will be responsible for setting the standard of quality in the shop, solving complex layout challenges, and ensuring projects are produced accurately and efficiently. This role is ideal for a craftsman who takes pride in their work and wants to play a key role in a growing company.
What You'll Do:
Lead day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring productivity, quality, and organization Perform advanced sheet metal layout and development, including:
  • Straight-line development
  • Radial-line development
  • Triangulation Fabricate complex architectural components, including:
  • Custom flashing and edge metal
  • Chimney saddles and transitions
  • Custom collection boxes
  • Tapered and radius work
  • Cornice and O.G. layout with off-miters
  • Soldered assemblies (steel and copper) Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and field measurements Troubleshoot design and fabrication challenges and develop practical solutions Train and mentor less-experienced shop personnel Coordinate with office staff and field crews to meet project timelines Maintain high standards for shop safety, cleanliness, and organization Ensure all work meets Sheridan quality standards and project specifications
What You Bring:
5+ years of architectural sheet metal experience (minimum) Strong expertise in manual layout (not just machine operation) Proven ability to fabricate custom, non-standard components Experience with soldered work (steel and/or copper) preferred Leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred Ability to read and interpret plans, details, and specs independently Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail Ability to manage time, priorities, and workflow in a shop environment Reliable, self-motivated, open minded, and takes pride in craftsmanship Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and be on your feet throughout the day
