Grain Elevator / Agriculture Position Summary The Grain Sampler Operator is responsible for collecting and testing grain samples from incoming and outgoing grain trucks, railcars, and storage bins to determine grain quality and condition. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate grading, maintaining quality standards, and supporting efficient grain handling operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collect representative grain samples from trucks, railcars, and storage facilities. Perform quality tests including moisture content, test weight, foreign material, protein levels, and other grain grading factors. Record and maintain accurate grain testing and grading records. Assist with grain receiving, storage, and shipping operations as needed. Communicate test results to elevator staff, supervisors, and customers. Monitor grain condition and report quality concerns or abnormalities. Follow all company safety procedures and industry regulations. Operate sampling, testing, and grading equipment properly and safely. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sampling and testing areas. Assist with general elevator housekeeping and seasonal operational needs. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous grain elevator, agricultural, farming, or commodity handling experience is beneficial but not required. Knowledge of grain grading standards is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document information. Basic computer and data entry skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and customer service skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb stairs or ladders throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, grain dust, and agricultural environments.
