  • Job Description
  • This role operates electro-discharge machining (EDM) equipment to produce high-precision turbine engine aerospace components in a fast-paced production environment.

You will set up and run conventional or 5-axis EDM machines, monitor quality throughout the process, and maintain detailed production records. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality parts with minimal scrap while meeting daily efficiency targets.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Set up and operate EDM (electro-discharge) machines, including conventional and 5-axis EDM equipment, to produce precision aerospace components.

+ Load and securely set up parts in the machine, ensuring correct fixturing and alignment prior to machining.

+ Run production orders and continuously monitor parts as they are being machined to ensure consistent quality.

+ Perform in-process and final quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools.

+ Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure parts meet required tolerances.

+ Troubleshoot issues with EDM machines, identify defects or abnormalities, and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.

+ Prepare and maintain production logs (travelers) and other records to document machine operation, part counts, and daily output.

+ Set up and switch jobs as required, including tooling changes, fixture changes, and program adjustments, with training provided as needed.

+ Maintain more than 98% daily efficiency while upholding strict quality standards and minimizing scrap on high-value turbine engine parts.

+ Operate different types of EDM machines, including water-based, oil-based, and wire EDM systems, as assigned.

+ Work with modified Haas and other CNC-based EDM equipment, following established procedures and safety guidelines.

+ Handle and move parts and materials safely, including frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.

+ Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to facility rules.

+ Work effectively in a production environment that may include confined spaces and varying noise levels.

+ Collaborate with team members, engineers, and supervisors to resolve machining issues and support continuous improvement.

  • Essential Skills
  • + Experience operating CNC or other metal machining equipment in a production or machine shop environment.

+ Basic computer skills to interact with machine interfaces, production systems, and documentation tools.

+ Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how machines and tooling function.

+ Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement devices and inspection tools.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.

+ Capability to work with close tolerances and understand dimensional accuracy requirements.

+ Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.

+ High school diploma or GED.

+ Ability to read and write English, including completing required onboarding questionnaires and documentation.

+ Eligibility to work in the United States, including completion of required eligibility and ITAR-related forms as part of onboarding.

+ Ability to work safely in confined spaces and in a production environment where noise levels may be loud.

+ Willingness and ability to use required PPE at all times in designated areas.

  • This position is based in a production facility housing over 150 EDM machines, with temperature-controlled conditions in most production areas.

The environment involves working around high-precision EDM equipment, including conventional and 5-axis machines, many of which are custom-built and significantly modified from Haas platforms. The facility focuses on machining high-value turbine engine aerospace parts, requiring a strong emphasis on quality and careful handling to minimize scrap. Employees may work in confined spaces and must be comfortable in areas where noise levels can be loud. The role requires frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds and consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Work schedules follow structured shifts, with day shifts typically running Monday through Thursday from early morning to late afternoon and a shorter shift on Friday, and night shifts running Monday through Thursday into the late evening with a shorter Friday shift, supporting a steady and predictable production rhythm.\

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $17.

00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
