This individual is responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting equipment along the production line to manufacture pet food products in a safe, efficient, and quality-compliant manner. This role performs a variety of tasks including material handling, packaging, quality checks, and basic equipment troubleshooting while adhering to food safety and GMP standards. Duties Operate and monitor production line equipment (mixers, extruders, ovens, packaging lines, etc.) according to standard operating procedures Perform routine quality control checks (weight checks, visual inspections, product sampling) and document results accurately Load, unload, and stage raw materials and finished goods, using manual material handling or powered equipment (forklift certification may be required) Identify and report equipment malfunctions, product defects, or safety hazards to supervisors promptly Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation schedules Follow all food safety protocols, including HACCP guidelines, allergen controls, and traceability procedures Accurately complete production logs, batch records, and downtime tracking documentation Participate in changeovers, line setup, and basic preventive maintenance tasks Adhere to all workplace safety policies, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and safe lifting techniques Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for efficiency or safety improvements Work collaboratively with team members across shifts to meet daily production targets Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Prior manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience preferred, food/pet food industry a plus Working knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, OSHA regulations, and workplace safety best practices Ability to read and follow written work instructions and safety procedures Basic math skills for measuring, weighing, and recording data Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
