Job Description

Overview Seahorse Chocolate is an award-winning bean-to-bar chocolate maker in Bend, Oregon. We make chocolate from two ingredients, cane sugar and the best cocoa beans we can get our hands on, and we source them in ways that are good for farmers, ecosystems, and the communities behind every bar. We're looking for a Part-Time Chocolate Production Assistant to work alongside our production team and help make it all happen: cracking, winnowing, tempering, pouring, packaging, and keeping the shop running clean and smooth. This is hands-on work in a small, growing company, and we're looking for someone who is passionate about making excellent products and being a part of that growth. Schedule 15 hours per week, ideally split over three 5-hour days. Specific days set in coordination with production needs. What You'll Do Support the bean-to-bar process: cracking, winnowing, tempering, pouring, and molding Package finished chocolate to Seahorse's standards Clean and sanitize equipment and the production space daily Handle routine equipment maintenance and keep supplies organized and stocked Follow food safety and quality procedures consistently and carefully Who You Are Responsible, clean, and detail-oriented. You notice when something isn't quite right or needs work, and aren't afraid to speak up. Genuinely excited about bean-to-bar chocolate and eager to learn the craft Comfortable on your feet, working with your hands, and lifting up to 50 lbs A good teammate in a small space, and a good communicator Specialty food or beverage experience is a plus: chocolate, coffee, beer, wine, cheese, baking, etc.. It doesn't have to be chocolate, but a good palate goes a long way! Compensation & Growth Hourly wage: $20-25/hour, depending on experience. This role is part-time today, but it was designed with growth in mind. We're a growing company, and as we expand we hope this position grows with us into a full-time role for the right person who wants to build real skill in craft chocolate and grow alongside the team. Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion Seahorse Chocolate is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive, and diverse work environment. We strongly encourage women, people of color, and other candidates from marginalized groups within the chocolate and specialty food industries to apply. Interested? Send your resume and a short cover letter about why you're excited about chocolate to emily@seahorsechocolate.com. We can't wait to hear from you!
