Job Description

Job Summary The Assistant Operator is a part-time position dedicated to supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the District's drinking water and wastewater systems. This role involves assisting the Lead Operator with routine field work, system monitoring, maintenance tasks, physical labor, customer service activities, recordkeeping, and emergency response efforts. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, eager to learn about water and sewer operations, and committed to maintaining high safety standards. Responsibilities Support the Lead Operator in daily operational activities of water and wastewater systems Perform routine monitoring of system performance and record data accurately Conduct maintenance tasks on equipment and infrastructure as assigned Engage in physical labor including cleaning, repairs, and installation work Provide customer service in the field by addressing inquiries or issues related to water and sewer services Assist with emergency response efforts to ensure safety and system integrity Maintain detailed records of work performed, system conditions, and maintenance activities Follow safety protocols and operational procedures at all times to ensure a secure working environment Skills Strong work ethic with dependability and self-motivation Willingness to learn technical aspects of water and wastewater systems Ability to perform physical labor safely and effectively Good communication skills for customer interactions and team collaboration Basic recordkeeping skills with attention to detail Ability to follow instructions precisely and adhere to safety guidelines Flexibility to handle various tasks in a dynamic field environment
Pay:
$18.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
