Cut and Sew Apparel Production Manager Coalcracker Bushcraft Ashland, PA Job Details Full-time $75,000 - $95,000 a year 6 days ago Benefits Paid time off Flexible schedule Qualifications Teaching sewing Stitching Industrial sewing machine Manufacturing facility experience Industrial equipment Training Factory experience Production troubleshooting Full Job Description Coalcracker Stitch Works is looking for an experienced Cut & Sew Apparel Production Manager to help us expand into apparel and workwear manufacturing. Our customers typically come to us with their designs, patterns, samples, and specifications already completed. We need someone who understands garment construction and can take those materials and turn them into an efficient, repeatable manufacturing process on our production floor. This is a hands-on manufacturing position, not a fashion design position. What You'll Do Review customer patterns, samples, and specifications Determine the most efficient way to manufacture each garment Develop sewing operations and production sequences Determine appropriate machines, attachments, needles, stitches, and sewing techniques Develop efficient production workflows for new products Estimate labor requirements and production times Help establish accurate manufacturing costs Create and improve production processes Work directly with sewing operators on the factory floor Troubleshoot construction and production problems Train and support sewing personnel Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput Help take new apparel products from sample/prototype into production Establish quality-control procedures and production standards Assist with production planning and scheduling as the apparel division grows Required Experience 7+ years of hands-on apparel or cut-and-sew manufacturing experience Strong understanding of garment construction Significant experience manufacturing garments such as: Work shirts Button-down shirts Work pants Jackets Vests Outdoor apparel Heavy-duty workwear Experience taking an existing pattern and determining how it should be manufactured Strong knowledge of industrial sewing machines and sewing operations Experience working directly on a manufacturing floor Ability to identify production problems and develop practical solutions Ability to train and communicate effectively with sewing operators Preferred Experience Workwear or industrial apparel manufacturing Outdoor apparel or equipment Canvas, wool, waxed canvas, nylon, and other heavy or technical fabrics Experience taking products from initial sample through production Experience developing production costs and labor estimates Experience managing or supervising sewing production Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who knows how to build clothing in a factory. You should be able to look at a finished garment, its pattern, and the customer's specifications and understand how to break that product down into individual sewing operations, determine the proper equipment and workflow, and get it into efficient production. This person will play a major role in building our apparel manufacturing capabilities and helping us take on the growing number of workwear and outdoor apparel projects coming into our facility. This is an opportunity for an experienced apparel manufacturing professional to have a significant role in building and developing an apparel production operation.
