Job Title:
General Production Worker - 2nd Shift Job Description This role supports a busy manufacturing operation by working at various production stations, monitoring product flow, and ensuring products meet quality and safety standards. You will inspect, weigh, and package products, assist machine operators, and help maintain a clean and efficient production environment on the 2nd shift. Responsibilities Work at different production stations as needed to support changing production requirements. Inspect products for quality, weigh items accurately, and package finished goods according to specifications. Use a tape measure to verify product dimensions and ensure they meet required standards. Monitor the flow of product into processing machinery and promptly address issues or irregularities. Assist and help prepare rolls and materials for the machine operator to ensure continuous production. Verify compliance with quality, safety, and production standards, and ensure adherence to work rules. Report potential downtime, production scrap, and machine quality issues to the appropriate personnel. Empty the bailer when full and perform related housekeeping tasks around the bailer area. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including sweeping and organizing the production area. Support general labor tasks such as packing, shipping, and cycle counts as needed. Participate in day-shift training for several weeks to learn processes, equipment, and safety procedures before transitioning to 2nd shift. Essential Skills Ability to successfully complete a tape measure test and accurately read measurements. At least 6 months of prior warehouse or manufacturing experience. Experience with general production work, including machine operation support and packaging. Ability to perform basic cycle counts and support shipping and packing tasks. Comfort working around running manufacturing equipment and moving machinery. Strong attention to detail for inspecting, weighing, and packaging products to specification. Ability to follow safety procedures, work rules, and production standards consistently. Willingness and ability to work 10-hour shifts, including Saturdays, as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or startup production environment. Previous exposure to machine operation or assisting machine operators. Familiarity with basic quality checks and reporting production issues. Comfort working flexible hours and adapting to changing shift schedules. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment with running machines and active production lines. It is a 2nd shift position, currently operating from approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, due to increased workload. Once an additional operator is hired, the schedule is expected to return to a standard 2nd shift of 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday. All employees will train on 1st shift for several weeks, typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturday training from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Employees must remain flexible to work 10-hour days, including Saturdays, as needed. The facility operates as a startup manufacturing site with a corporate presence in another state, and the work involves standing, moving between stations, and working around machinery throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
