Job Title:
Press Assistant Job Description The Press Assistant operates and supports packaging and extrusion machinery in a manufacturing environment, ensuring smooth production runs, consistent product quality, and timely changeovers. This role involves troubleshooting basic machine issues, performing quality checks, packing bottles into boxes, and moving pallets to support continuous production. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods of time. Responsibilities Operate and assist with packaging and extrusion machines to support continuous production. Troubleshoot basic machine issues to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operations. Perform regular quality checks on products to ensure they meet established standards. Set up machines and perform changeovers between different production runs as required. Pack bottles into boxes accurately and efficiently according to production specifications. Move pallets and materials around the production area using pallet jacks to support workflow. Monitor production lines to identify and address issues quickly and safely. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with machinery and material handling equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and schedules. Essential Skills Experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Previous manufacturing or press operating experience. Ability to perform quality checks and follow detailed production specifications. Basic machine operation and troubleshooting skills for packaging equipment. Ability to use pallet jacks to move pallets and materials safely. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Comfortable standing for 10 or more hours during a shift. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality. Ability to follow safety protocols and work instructions consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in production, assembly, or packaging operations. Experience working in an extrusion or similar industrial environment. Ability to work effectively on rotating schedules and long shifts. Strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in an extrusion manufacturing environment that is non-climate controlled, requiring comfort working in varying temperatures. The position follows extended shift schedules, including 1st shift from 6:45 AM to 7:00 PM and 2nd shift from 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM, with rotating patterns such as three days on/three days off and four days on/four days off. Work is performed on the production floor around active machinery and material handling equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety, awareness, and adherence to operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.00/hr.
